I've had 9 pet rats and I've never been bit. I've been nibbled when giving them food but never hard enough to hurt or leave any mark. I couldn't say the same about dogs, cats, hamsters, ferrets, gerbils, mice, parrots, and iguanas I've had as pets. They're probably the most trainable house pet besides dogs and some birds(and pigs if you consider them). They don't have strong hunting instincts and they prefer to live in enclosed areas which makes them great house pets. You can feed them practically anything you can eat. They are hilarious to watch. They groom each other constantly. They go batshit crazy every time they hear you coming. Basically, they're more like hyper, neurotic dogs than any other pet.
