when a company design a fucking console it think in the world as a whole ,,, not fucking one country .... or else sony should've designed the ps4 for japan and fuck the rest of the world .. and you say ...

you are fucking idiot !!!

No they develop them for countries that have money. Because that is where they make a profit, not in countries where 1/10 people have internet. The figure people are smart enough to not blow their money on something they don't need before they blow it something they do.

PS Sony is more global than you think, and Nintendo has developed many games only for Japan consumption despite the fact people in America want them.

"You are fucking idiot" /thread.

I work for a Gamestop so I naturally have to defend them. When a new game comes out Gamestop enacts its 'Power Trade' program for that game during the first 30 days. The policy of the Power Trade is as follows; they will buy your game at half MSRP or $30. That game then gets sold at $54.99 or $49.49 if you're a pro member. That's up to ten dollars cheaper, or 1/6ths the price. Now gamestop bought the game at 1/3rd of the price so they're ultimately only making 2/6ths the price of the game in profit. or ~$20. Consider the fact that they don't make a lot of money on the new game, and the fact that they buy tons of games from everyone, no matter the condition.

I've taken hundred of copies of CoDblops2 with circle pattern etching (dumbasses moving their system with the disc in it) giving them $15 to $20 for a game that will never work, and we will never sell. Coupled with the thousands and thousands of games, in my store alone, that will never be sold. We have hundreds of copies of modern warfare 2 and 3, tons of fable 2 and 3, every sports game conceivable, and all of them gamestop paid out at least 5 to 20 dollars for and maybe 5 to 10 percent of that stock will sell. Gamestop isn't 'jewing' you out of money, they're the only thing that stands between you and new software dealers from charging $80-$100 a copy.

I think you missed a basic economics class.

Developers lose way more money to GS than you seem to think. Devs don't see a lot, if anything, from used game sales. Consoles are more often sold at a loss in the hopes games will make up for it, and if you aren't selling new copies you aren't making money. Yes and first 30 days, cool. So what? How many people are going to return a new game that quickly, I am sure theres a few but not enough to justify it as an argument. As for the rest, I don't know what GS you work at but the ones around here inspect shit. And if it doesn't work or its on a do not buy list, they won't buy it. They inspect for scratchs and dings on disks. I saw some poor get get like 20$ for turning in a console and 15 games (and some others they told him no because they were scratched), that he could have sold on CL or Ebay for twice that. None of our local stores have "Thousands and thousands" of games, maybe 500-900 max and its a relatively large store.

Second Gamestop is not stopping companies from charging 100$ for a game, economics are. They would never sale enough to make a profit at that price, with or without GS. That is just basic economics. Demand isn't so high they could get away with that.

Gamestop provides all the companies with free advertisement and creates competition between stores like walmart and target, which don't focus on games. Competition keeps the prices low but so does the fact that a consumer is more likely to be willing to spend a couple extra bucks for a new game, but if the new games cost $80+ the margin of people willing to buy new versus used drops.

Finally company policy is to take any game provided it meets the following criteria; no heavy scratching, scratches that catch the fingernail should be taken, but a fee must be applied to have the disc sent out and buffed, this includes circle pattern etching caused by the xbox. Also cracks along the hub (central hole of the disc that the spinner rises up into), can be accepted, but again the fee, finally cover art side damage or cracks along the hub that go past the hub divide (the raised bump that separates the plastic ring from the data bearing portion of the disc) cannot be accepted.

This means light scratched or even moderately scratched discs must be accepted, or your local store isn't following company policy. Finally unless you actually get to go into the back room of the store you will never see the full brunt of the games that the store actually carries. Every time the particular stock of a given game exceeds 7 copies 5 copies have to be removed and bundled up and taken into the back room, and no more than 2 actual product cases (not the promotional generic display cases) can be on the wall.

A. No, this is the internet. Welcome to the world, I'm in Europe, not America.

B. Because we can pirate them for the PC, not to mention Summer Sale. We were never able to sell used games on the PC, but on the Play Station and Xbox, we were, now this option is taken away from us. Not to mention we can't lend friends our games anymore, like, this was one of the reasons people got consoles instead of PC's.

C. If you actually believe that they'll reduce the cost of new games form now on.. oh man.

D. And any person buying a NEW used game is a twat, the sheer reason this is such an amazing feature is that it's a way to get games that are taken OFF the marked at a cheap price.

E. It's not "weak bullshit", it's pretty fucking major.

F. Just shut up
#57 - blackandwhitegod (05/27/2013) [-]
So you are bitching essentially your country has dial up, that you won't be able to steal games, I did not say reduce the cost I said the cost won't stay as HIGH for as LONG ( I know it is hard to read with European education), if anyone who buys a new game is a twat means that no one would buy new games and therefor you would have no USED games, it is weak bullshit you are just fucking stupid.

Just because you guys are afraid of change that doens't affect you that much, and your grasp on economics and business is weak, doesn't make it make the Xbox 1 bad. It just means school or the internet has failed society.

The literacy rate in a country like Norway is 100%. In the US it's 99%. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_literacy_rate
Once you buy your physical copy of a game, you should be able to do what you want with it.
"Change" can either be bad or good, in the Xbox ONE's case, it's certainly very bad.

It probably annoys me because when I get into a relationship I want it to be based on mutual trust and commitment so seeing someone take their clothes off for someone else seems like a real bitch move. also lying about it. then again who knows, it may be just me.
