I don't know. it just seemed odd. Like, the downtown area and central station where there were more modern buildings with glass fronts and whatnot but the streets were practically empty outside of the shops and then how the older parts of town seemed far more alive. It just seemed a really mixed bag of like two completely different cities that accidentally grew into eachother.

Never could find a decent bar but there were a few interesting shops. Found a bookstore that looked like something out of Harry Potter and a good restaurant not too far from the hotel I was in. It's a nice place- but it just is a bit strange and very inconsistent.

You're probably talking about Waterstones, I know exactly where you mean as well, there was a KFC just down the road from it. Yeah, it's really big, I concentrate most on City Centre. Theres a few good bars but the nightclubs are the best. Cathouse, Garage, ABC, Firewater and Jellybaby are the popular ones.

Was only there for a couple days so I never got the chance to really look about the place all too much, and my memory of direction and names of places is blurry at best. There's wasn't a great deal to do in the parts I was located and I wasn't sure about the night life because, having hailed from a local where night and day are mostly the same in length, I wasn't sure what the locals considered night with the sun setting no earlier than 2200

If Waterstones is in the immediate vicinity of the River then it's quite likely that was the store. Glasgow was probably my least favorite location that I stayed while there but I didn't get a chance to look around it all too much and I was recovering from about twenty hours of travel time as well as getting acclimated to an entirely new country so it's not an unbiased perspective. I had a good time in Edinburgh and absoloutely loved the highlands and Stromness.
