It confirms the overwhelming rejection of violence among British Muslims with 86 per cent saying they believe it is unacceptable for religious or political groups to use violence for political ends.

Also another good stat, also consider that the other 14% are unspecified in their standpoint, they may support violence for a political end that favors secularism.

i'm saying 9/11 was because of extremism never claimed it was on par with 9/11. and the muslims in those areas should be looked at differently if they're willing to go against the law and restrict other peoples rights they absolutely deserve to be viewde differently
User avatar #49 - biomedic (11/22/2013) [-]
This is what I mean, this was the action of one or a few men, but you think it means you should view the entire community differently.
I went looking to see what the UK muslim population's views on sharia law actually are since I don't really know all that much about it, and found this stat from a Guardian (already biased against muslims) poll.
The special poll based on a survey of 500 British Muslims found that a clear majority want Islamic law introduced into this country in civil cases relating to their own community. Some 61 per cent wanted Islamic courts - operating on sharia principles - "so long as the penalties did not contravene British law".

So the majority support is basically for muslims to be tried under their own laws and not enforce it on others.

have you not heard of extremism before, 9/11 the war in iraq and afghanistan etc. there are always fucktards who will go too far and think they're in the right
User avatar #33 - biomedic (11/22/2013) [-]
I'm aware. But this is just media fear mongering. Putting up some posters that hold no credibility isn't exactly on the same level as 9/11 now is it. All I'm saying is, people shouldn't get angry over this, because it makes people look at the muslim community in these areas differently and creates a divide that shouldn't exist, but does because the media created it.

The Bible has been mistranslated so many times, so it gets fucked up along the way.
User avatar #18 - beren (11/16/2013) [-]
Interesting choice of words, but for the most part correct. Each translation has its own philosophy behind it--some go for literal translations and others try to translate idiomatic language, etc. Also, some are much older, many are newer, and, of course, none captures every aspect (especially since not every aspect of the original languages is grasped by those translating it).
#49 - angelious (11/16/2013) [-]
actually he is right.bible is translated badly

for instance jesus never walked on water but rather on the shore along the water

and most of the stuff in bible were supposed to be metaforms(i lack the proper english word for this).

and the source is my sister for who works closely with the church
User avatar #84 - beren (11/16/2013) [-]
As someone who has directly studied the languages for several years, I'd have to object to that statement. While many things are supposed to be metaphors, that does not mean that the translations fail to grasp them already. I would also have to outright deny any suggestion that most miracles can be explained by metaphor, since that is extremely incorrect. Most of the Greek church fathers, speaking the same language, elaborated on the original written work in depth and did not relegate that much of the language to metaphor (although, again, plenty of it is).

X Pokedex Entry: The organ that emits its intense psychic power is sheltered by its ears to keep power from leaking out.

Y Pokedex Entry: It has enough psychic energy to blast everything within 300 feet of itself, but it has no control over its power.

Its 1ft tall and under 10lbs but its eyes have seen all and it can destroy everything you love

You seem to have some FJ points, which are used in the FJ collecting game and nothing else,
if you're willing to give them away just click this link: www.funnyjunk.com/items/4236130#4236130
and click the (T) next to my name. Send them using the arrow next to the points.
Note that they will not affect your thumbs in anyway.
