Admin put strict rules on pictures (no shirtless guys, no suggestive pictures of girls, no hinting that boobs, vaginae, asses or penises existed outside of NSFW) because he wanted advertisers to flock to the site. So, everyone told each other to go fuck themselves and some users quit. So now admin wants our love back I suppose.

I know 3 million compared to 17 trillion isn't anything at all. But the fact that we are spending money on that program and how it was passed is just beyond me. A few million here and there adds up quicker than you think.
Or we spent like 20 million to recreate Sesame Street somewhere in the Middle East.. I mean come on

A few million dollars are just a few drops in a bucket. It's still drops that can stay in our bucket and not in China's.
If we can't handle our money well on our own soil, why are we just giving it away all around the world? Good example, since the 50's we've spent the equivalent of over $1,000,000,000 per year to Pakistan. And we don't have a great relationship with them, also god knows where that money actually goes(probably into high political pockets).

They just realized that Scottish people want more than they have. Now that they have a chance to vote they'll vote to stay thinking that the UK has something good in the near future, if they said they weren't getting to get to vote then they'd want to leave.

This is also the case with the Faroe Islands. There are movements at times that favour independence from Denmark, but when it comes close to get fulfilled, people back out because they get cold feet, these movements then sprout at different times, but it never gets results.
#54 - odonnell (09/26/2013) [-]
Its stupid to back out. Scotland is a good example, look at what happened in the 70's when they turned it down. They had just discovered the north sea oil, they could have set up an oil fund and could have been as rich as Norway now. But, they turned it down and have been rewarded with tharcherism killing mining jobs, the war in the Falklands, and the shitty economy they live in today. It was a great trade if you ask me.
The thing about it is, if you're asking for independence things can't be great for your country under another's rule, and in that case you can continue to live in the shit or take a chance. The worst thats going to happen is you'll remain in the shit you had, the best that can happen is your country shoots ahead of the old with a great economy.

To be honest, I don't know how it is in Scotland, I just know that the "nationalists/people wanting independence" in our country are monitoring the situation there closely, because they might learn from them. Our rule under Denmark is also becoming more and more complicated, due to us not being part of the EU and Denmark being part of them. Denmark is right now making sanctions against the Faroe Islands, because they are part of the EU. It really shows that the the Danish Realm(Denmark, Faroe Islands, and Greenland) doesn't work as it is.

We will probably back out of it. It does make sense to have independence, because the population of England is so large (60 Million compared to Scotland's 6 Million) we are out voted and over looked. Its not that Britain is anti-Scottish or pro-English, its just that they have to pay more attention to the majority and tend to forget about the minority. Which is one of the reasons why Scotland's backs managed to slip.
But, now that the economy is in a poor state its not a safe time to be moving out. We'd most likely crumble. Today it was announced that 2/3 of Scotland referred to themselves as Scottish only (Other than Scottish and British), so looking at that and the results of the smaller independence polls, The majority of Scotland would want independence, they just don't think its a good time to go.
The Faroe Islands are in a similar place to Scotland. Britain is in the EU, but Scotland isn't. Which makes people uneasy because they don't want to leave the EU (Which I don't understand, it seems pointless to leave one foreigners rule to put another foreigner in charge). However, with the UK having a vote on leaving the EU soon, Scotland would probably have better chances of being in the EU by leaving the UK.

I feel the same way about our situation, it's not that Denmark does not care about the Faroe Islands, it's just that they need to focus on their own citizens and land. This will naturally makes us "less important" to the common Dane. I also think that it's kinda far fetched that some people in Copenhagen shall dictate how shall do something, because our two cultures are vastly different. It would, in my book, make much sense that the Faroe Islands took over everything, and then see how it would go, this will probably never happen though.
