1) He published the information online, everyone got the documents, not just Russia and China
2) Spying on allies =/= legitimate operation
3) I'm a UK citizen and I don't want my government interfering in Argentina's affairs. This is an opinion shared by the majority of British people.
4) Even if you want to argue those things are legal, they're still unethical and I know I don't want them committed in my name, or in the name of democracy.

See that's what I'll never understand. If democratic countries like the UK or USA are better than the human rights disasters we oppose (which I honestly believe is the case) then why don't we hold ourselves to a higher standard? Why do people like you say it's okay for the government to spy on us and our allies without our permission, knowledge, or support and to use our own tax dollars to do it?

2) Saying "everyone does it" is not a justification, it's an excuse. They also don't record the phone conversations of the leaders of their allies nor do they read their emails.

3) Cool motive, still illegal. And revealing that information showed the British people that the government was doing it. Democracy is based on an informed populace.

4) I don't understand the relevance of "no benefit". The US and UK got caught stealing from the cookie jar. You do something wrong, you deserve your punishment. You don't get angry at the police for taking a drunk driver off the road and contributing to the statistics on drunk drivers, you blame the asshole who drank a bottle of vodka behind the wheel.

This actually helps the people of Britain and America in the long run as the government is less likely to approve the sort of activities that harm national security (like interfering with other counties elections or funding terrorist groups) if they know that whistle-blowers are willing to call them on it.
