You can use a genetic algorithm to work out what might possibly be the fastest path without calculating all the possibilities. If its not the fastest, its going to be one of the fastest.

A genetic algorithm? Do you even hear yourself?

Yes. You are still wrong about the original arguement though.

Right, but you aren't going to mention how, you are just going to say that I am wrong. It's hard for me to do anything with that information.

Comment #4 says it best. I don't intend to argue about it, though.

Comment states two things:
1. That there is no optimal search path. Which is bullshit because there is always a best path depending on how you measure it.
2. There is no algorithm that can solve the travelling salesmen problem. Which is also bullshit since there are many algorithms that can solve or approximate the solution to the travelling salesman problem, including doing it the slow way and computing the fastest path by computing every possible path ( could take a while ), the greedy approach, or using a genetic algorithm.

There are many examples on the internet showing a genetic algorithm being used to solve instances of the travelling salesmen problem, so unless you are going to state what your actual problem with the use of one to solve this problem is, then what the fuck is going on?

I already told you I'm not interested in arguing. I'm flattered by the amount of energy you put into that, though.

There is a entire page deticated to algorithms for solving this problem on wikipedia. This exact problem in the OP is solveable fully within a reasonable amount of time and approximately (probably the same result as the above) by a home computer almost instantly.

Well there is a fastest path but there are 3.6471111x10^94 paths and you have to time each one to find the fastest.
