Do you know about Kristallnacht? 1938, just before the war. 91 Jews died and was one of the first 'major' persecution's of the Jewish people with 30,000.
This was another main reason for the intervention of the British and her allies in WWI.

During the summer and fall of 1914, France lost as many men on the battlefield as the U.S.Army would lose in all of the 20th century!
