I don't think the South considers Texas the South. We have too much Latino influence these days.

I think you missed my point there, all I'm saying is that if this is a matter of genetics than it isn't a matter of statistics, much less a matter of morality. But that's just the way I see it, and I know it isn't politically correct, however, I'm not interested in being politically correct. I don't think it's so black and white, and while some (like you) appear to know what they are talking about, I think a lot of people don't have a clue.

Personally, I don't think it's anybodies business if two people love each other, and to begin with, we are all related, even "unrelated" people have horrifically matched genes, my point is that should they be banned as well? And what if two related people have genes that have odds near, equal too, or even greater than normal?

I just think that people should think about such things.

So should two "unrelated" (aren't we related to everybody twice?) people be allowed to marry if they both carry recessive genes which will possibly produce (with varying percentages of risk) offspring with genetic diseases?

That's my biggest problem with this argument. It becomes a matter of eugenics, and not all genes are created equal.

*facepalm* Of course two individuals who carry recessive genes will produce offspring will have a child with the defect roughly 1/4 of the time if its a simple monohybrid cross. However, with inbreeding, the odds are much, much higher. your odds of having certain genetic defects are literally thousands of times more likely when you breed with someone who you are closely related to as opposed to mating someone who you are not related to. Also, do I REALLY need to clarify relations when genetics is included? It should be painfully obvious that blood relations is the relationship that is being discussed. Also, I am not stating an argument, I am stating facts. I am not stating my opinion, just my observations and knowledge.
