 Not "reluctant", he just knows that he's not likely to win or make a real difference. He's still gone up against Freeza and Cell, even Buu, when he knew he didn't have a shadow of a chance at beating him. The thing that people say makes Rider special is something that Krillin has done in pretty much every saga.  Unlike Mumen Rider, Krillin has died before. He is fully aware of how much it is going to hurt when he gets his spine ripped out through his asshole, so he's a bit more reluctant. Rider doesn't, so he just jumps in, unaware of the consequences. We're not talking about death. We're talking about a very painful death. #146 -
