anon (03/14/2015) [-] While i can't talk about if the economy is good or bad in the US, then i can talk a little about what would happen IF the US couldn't pay back their debt. they would have to declare bankruptcy, which would reset their debt. This would start a huge economical crisis for anyone that relies on the us economy and or have us debt bonds(or whatever its called) Thereafter the economy would slowly heal itself back up, it would take time, but we would get over it. Also the chance that if us reset, then investors would not try to invest in usa again, meaning it would hit very hard for the us. This is all just if the us somehow fucks up and goes bankrupt... However i can't deny as a economics student, that the us debt is bad.... Bieber mentions that it means jack shit, while i agree that right now its just 75% of gdp (which is a little bad, but not anything like france or japan) But the rate that the debt keeps increasing is worrying and it can course big problems for usa in the future. Why? well many reasons, but just to mention one. The countries investing in us bonds could begin to doubt that usa are able to pay back. The pressure could also increase as the debt to gdp ratio increases. At current levels of debt to gdp ratio, then usa wouldn't be able to get into europe (on paper... but we all know we let anyone into the sinking ship aka EU) | ||
