Canada, Chile, most Muslim countries, most of the U.S.,
Lost of countries have it banned in some regard, such as border crossings.
Interesting read to be honest.

In theory, that would be many, many times better than a DUI.

In practice, it wouldn't matter. You'd get a DUI anyway.
#42 - blancka (05/16/2016) [-]
Doubt the idea would work in the first place for not getting a DUI, but assuming you did just get a drinking in public charge, wouldn't it mean you wouldn't face any danger of losing your license? One would also assume any fines or anything like that would be less for public intoxication than drunk driving. Seems like it would still mitigate some consequence

>Then you get in trouble for drinking in public

Wait what. I mean, I'm being rhetoric as I just googled it, but the more I learn about the US the more it confuses me. Good to know I guess, and good thing I must have had a huge TOURIST sign on my face last time I was there, either they turned a blind eye or didn't really see me.

To be fair, it's one of those things where you won't get in trouble unless the cop is having a bad day. Like if you're walking down the side walk drinking a beer, no one is going to lose their shit.
#11 - polarbond (05/16/2016) [-]
Either that or I was hiding in plain sight so to speak because public drinking is allowed here and nobody wraps bottles up like in the first video I youtubed here.

Epic Prank On Cops Drinking In Public

Granted they probably picked the most effective reactions to patch a prank video together and left the dull ones alone, but... I still can't believe I spent literally a month there drinking in the open, genuinely not knowing that law's existence (if caught I would've probably pissed the cops off with my utter disbelief, maybe they would've assumed I was trying to be a smartass).

it really only applies to people that are doing something else wrong. there are concerts where alcohol is served and nobody gets arrested for it there

Even in this video, I don't really see the guys getting in trouble. At most, if it was beer, they'd probably just be told to throw it away.
#13 - polarbond (05/16/2016) [-]
So they don't actually jail people for that? Because that's what googling told me and it freaks the Yuropean me out.

At worst, you might get a fine. But they probably wouldn't want to do the paperwork. In 99% of cases, they would probably tell you to throw it away, and if you don't then you get a ticket.
If it happened to you and you said "Oh, I'm sorry, I'm foreign and didn't know," they would be completely understanding lol

Aight cool, good to know. Won't still try my luck in the future though, you never know with cops. Fresh from this morning's experience: intercom wakes me up. I answer and unlock the gate, they come to my door - me still in my pajama wondering what the fuck did I do, they tell me I'm not allowed to park like that. Imagine my face when I don't even own a care and there was this big ass SUV parked sideways in front of my gate and half in the street (it was obstructing traffic). Thank god the owner came by that very moment because they were not believing me telling them I don't even drive (and I did tell them to check the plate registration and match it with my IDs but no, it was like they decided it had to be me).

People were worried he might get offended because by passing out those fortune cookies, they were stereotyping the Chinese. Lots of people really don't like stereotyping.

Maybe that was Merkel plan all along. She is working with the secret nazi party to make a new Reich acceptable. It may sound crazy, but just wait until the preserved head of Hitler with a mechanical body appears as a candidate.
