I can't tell you which set is better for defense, but I do know that the Silver Knight is better against electric while the Black Knight is better against fire. I imagine that they're both pretty close for defense, so I plan on getting the Black Knight's set later on and upgraded that as an alternative to the Silver Knight armor in the event of fire.

Personally, I'm very sad that you can't upgrade Smough or Orstein's armor. Those two as a combined set are my favorite in the game, and Smough's armor has godly defense for not being able to upgrade it any.

I was actually talking about the silver knights dropping bits of their armor from killing them over and over, or perhaps finding a set in a chest like you get the Silver Knights' armor in DS1.

Yep, it is in the first Dark Souls that you get the Silver Knight stuff. It's really good actually, very good for defending against magic and, surprisingly, electric. It eventually ends up better than Orstein's armor I believe. Not to mention that the spears deal holy damage, which only a few weapons in the game can do.

It's 'cause we're both in the fandom, but I like this conversation. Let's keep it up and see where it goes.

Ah i seeee!
Yeah i really like the silver knights stuff in DS1!
Although the best defensive armor I found was the giants set! you can upgrade it to make it better than Havels and it is light for it defensive capabilities.
But my favourite was the black knights set with either the black knights halberd or great axe! (just because I thought it looked the best)
In DS2 im still using "vengarls" armor. I feel like I'm missing a lot because I haven't really found any great armor!

I'm not sure which I'm more excited about, the fact that there are blue knights or the fact that the halberd has a base stat of 220. I've got a complete silver knight set on Dark Souls, you see, and am working to upgrade the entire set to its maximum potential. Can you get blue kknight armor too? Also the helix halberd sounds nice just from the name.

Feels good doesn't it?

I'll keep that in mind when I find my own twinblade~

Ultra greatswords are pretty much meant to just stagger anything you hit as well as take off massive chunks of health. Same goes for halberds really. Right now on Dark Souls I'm using the Giants Halberd and that just stuns anything I hit even once, let alone if I use a power attack and then a few normal ones. The style isn't for everyone though, a lot of people prefer speed over power.

Me? I like a good mixture of both.

If you like halberds i would suggest the blue knights halberds.
Although you have to kill an npc after the "old dragonslayer" boss in "heides tower of flame" and I don't know what the consequences are because he didn't have use of me.
It's pretty darn powerful. Has a base power stat of 220 I think.
Also when you infuses a smith stone to it, the power level only goes down by 5. and most other weapons are halved (unless you infuse a raw stone)
Or the "helix halberd" in the "shrine of amana" but that's a little later on!
This is the most I have ever replied/talked to anyone n FJ!

Using it in quick succession isn't really a good idea. I imagine it's supposed to be designed for a sudden, powerful strike - two at the most, one for each blade. I'm positive that it'll teach me to slow down and not just hack my way through everything, but to concentrate and pick my blows carefully.

Same reason I went with spears/halberds in the original, slow and powerful and teaches you to time your strikes.
User avatar #49 - belster (03/20/2014) [-]
Yeah that's what i thought to. But they are very weak and meant for combo attacking. and by doing this can leave you very open to attack if done wrong! But yeah you will get a nack to it!
I'm still using my starter sword because I smithed it to the top level and is now more powerful then most greatswords and 3 times as fast. I just haven't got the patience to power wield ultra greatswords! i just don't find them fun to use.

Thanks for the info! And to be honest, the thought never crossed my mind to try and wield it one handed... it just... it's not designed for that. I'm going two handed on it, whatever shield I have will be for pyromancy only.

Have a couple of thumbs for being a good neighbor.

Also for being a part of the Dark Souls community, which is surprisingly friendly and helpful. I suppose you'd have to be if you're a part of the community... I shudder at the thought of playing the game alone.

Thank you for informing me that this class of weapon is called Twinblade on Dark Souls 2! I love twinblades no no end and will use them along with probably pyromancy on my character (if pyromancy is still a thing in dark Souls 2... not gotten very far in it.)

Don't suppose you know what I can get the first twinblade in the game?
User avatar #45 - belster (03/20/2014) [-]
Yeah pyromancy is still hanging about. I got pyro from a women who was petrified. (you have to find and use a fragrant branch of yore on her)
Anyway I digress.
Sorry I honestly can't remember where I got mine. But if I found them so they won't be hard to find!
I know first you get the standard, then the dragonrider. Then the red iron.
You may get the dragonrider one from "heides tower of flame" From one of the two bosses in there i think!?
Anyway when you find one they are best wielded two handedly!
