I was always told that was very likely

Something along the lines of "If you aren't pushing hard enough to break ribs then you aren't pushing hard enough"

I'm not cpr certified or anything though so no worries :^)

I AM CPR certified. Our instructor told us day 1 that if you're doing it properly you will break ribs. It's just one of those things that happens when you compress the chest as forcefully as you have to.

I'm taking a class in CPR. My instructor told us a story about a time he had to do it on a guy and wound up cracking his ribs. It happens.

Straight from the official Australian bureau of crime statistics (or whatever they call it.)

www.aic.gov.au/statistics/homicide.html

No real trend, just fluctuation.

But Robbery did seriously spike for a while.

Australia has failed to release any of its violent crime data despite increasing complaints of violent crime involving guns surfacing on the 'net. Meaning it's no longer credible proof that "gun control just werks."

Australia’s gun ban had no effect on violent crime

www.ncpa.org/sub/dpd/?Article_ID=17847

“In 2002 – five years after enacting its gun ban – the Australian Bureau of Criminology acknowledged there is no correlation between gun control and the use of firearms in violent crime. In fact, the percent of murders committed with a firearm was the highest it had ever been in 2006 (16.3 percent)”

And this

Homicide rate fails to decrease after countries enact gun bans

yeah sure, no correlation between violent crime and guns...but guess what, our last mass shooting was back in 1996. Also, has failed to release any of its data? You obviously haven't looked very hard...The Australian crimonology website has statistics up to 2013 with 2014 being released shortly and 2015 to follow.

The gun ban wasn't to reduce violent crime..there will always be people willing to enact acts of violence towards others, doesn't matter if they have a gun or a knife or a pointed stick. The ban and restrictions were set in place to stop mass shootings. Since Port Arthur (36 people died) the largest number of people to die in a single event is about 4-5 from memory.

Besides any of this, your sources are null and void. 1) I could tell instantly that by being written someone other than an Australian that it would be twisted to suit that of Pro Guns. 2) the "facts" stated in those articles are fake, as I found the real statistics that didn't match your sources via the Aus Crimonology website..

Gee, there hasn't been a mass shooting since the capability for people to shoot was removed? I bet the same must have happened for all types of mass murder...right?

*Depending on how you define 'mass'.

It's not about stopping it completely, because there will always be insane maniacs. It's about limiting the damage that can happen. The entire listing of Australian massacres that you just listed are less than the what the states had in 2015 alone.
#46 - Enobrin (01/06/2016) [-]
There's a ten fold population difference. That matters.

To try out for olympic running, you have to be able to run a mile in under 4 minutes.
#37 - hongkongdingdong (12/22/2015) [-]
under 4 minutes would be top tier of the Olympics.
#38 - sneezer (12/22/2015) [-]
absolutely wrong. It would barely qualify you for olympic trials for the US.
#42 - hongkongdingdong (12/22/2015) [-]
the record for fastest mile is only 3:43..
i think what i said was at least somewhat correct.

not a single female has ever ran a 3 minute mile at all.

so there haha
#65 - sneezer (12/24/2015) [-]
If you had specified girls, yea. It was pretty much assumed you were speaking about dudes. And no man has run a 3 minute mile either. Hicham El Guerrouj ran a 3:43. Saying 3 minute mile just doesn't make sense
#64 - sneezer (12/23/2015) [-]
Nah what you said is not correct. The best highschoolers are running close to 4 minutes for the mile. Last year there were 3 guys at 4:06. Breaking 4 doesn't cut it anymore. Each second means a lot more than you're thinking
#41 - hongkongdingdong (12/22/2015) [-]
my bad.
it wasn't even until the 50's that someone even ran a 3 minute mile.

guess everyone can do it now.
