games memes dump #23
2011 was weird man
Skyrim is the meme game for normies to pretend they are "nerdy" and "gamur", particularly for girls. I've met two girls who had no interest whatsoever on games or roling or anything like that but played Skyrim for a bit and now they can't stop posting "nerdy" shit on whatsapp or other social media.
Works that way with most stuff where people feel like they belong to a certain group now and think they have to show it.
But it's absurd. I mean, I don't know if they are just being possers or they legitimelly enjoy the game but I've been playing RPG's among other games since forever (Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights and all that) and I don't go around saying how cool "nerdz stuff" is. And to be honest Skyrim isn't even that good in my opinion, I vastly prefer Oblivion. Skyrim bored me to tears for some reason, but yet everyone is talking about how amazing that is.
But I guess that trends and idiots don't follow logic.
>not preferring Morrowind
get out ya pleb
I think some people just have a larger need for admiration, especially girls. If they think they appear cooler such people will try to show what they like or start appearing to like things they don't necessarily enjoy thoroughy. It's worse with teenagers. It's a certain logic with the aim to get more involved in social stuff...I guess. I, too, keep mostly to myself and reveal my hobbies when I deem it appropriate.
And Skyrim was just mega hyped and looked great back in 2011. We can't even imagine how huge the hype for TES6 will be.
I've never tried Morrowind to be honest. I've been meaning to try it one day but I feel way too lazy to get into that kind of game. I also don't think I've got the time to do so.
I never thought of playing something like Skyrim would be "cool" but I guess people were really waiting for it and that had a lot of impact in popular culture, as you've pointed out. I never understood people being so loud about things they like. I mean, if you're with people who you think they might enjoy it as well.. sure. But with people who probably don't care? It's just stupid. Same shit with having a twitter account. You either follow someone famous or you're basically talking to yourself in a super noisy room full of people, because nobody fucking cares. Same with facebook. Unless you say something offensive or you've got boobs.
I also don't have the time to get into it again although I'd love to. The game is more slow-paced but that's awesome about it as you take much more of the atmosphere in.
Seems like I should talk a friend of mine about that who majored in sociology. I can't explain that behavior as well. There's being open about one's hobbies and there's being an obnoxious cunt and e.g. posting massive amounts of nerdy stuff on social media if you got into something lately belongs to the latter.
"But with people who probably don't care." Only one way to find out whether they care, but yeah, there's no need to rub it into everyone's face. Maybe such people want to belong to a group or seem interesting so badly.
Yes I know how you feel, I feel the same way with Baldur's Gate. Amazing game, but damn is it long and needs a lot of effort to get into.
I think it's funny most people who are obnoxious about liking something aren't really into that but are just being possers. And you can actually find out with a conversation if they are into that or not. Unless they are very shy about it which wouldn't make much sense, but I've seen people who won't really say they are into nerdy stuff unless they know for sure the other person is too.

My brother used to grope me and sexually harass me as a kid. Which is all the more infuriating when you consider he's called me gay nearly everyday of my life.
I had repressed memories of my childhood and how I was raped over and over by my father, my foster mom, my foster sister and so many more people.
They all flooded back to me one random day in school when I was 17.
I am 25 now.
It never gets easier.
Your life will be difficult from now on, suicide is a daily struggle and an inevitability..
Find a therapist try to get some semblance of normal if possible.
Good luck I hope you learn to forget again..
Jesus fucking christ...
Unfortunately that's the world we live in.
I wish I could say I was kidding or bring edgy but I'm not.
