They made the Extended Universe non-canon. If you read my comment, I already explained this.
#284 - Why? How did Disney kill any lore that George didn't already kill?  [+] (3 new replies) 12/03/2014 on Colbert '12 0

The extended universe had almost nothing to do with the lore George Lucas made. He basically contracted out the license to competent and creative writers and they made a glorious archive of stories and descriptions that is all that kept the Star Wars franchise going and is what allowed it to grow. Almost everything that was written was canon and 99% of it was absolutely brilliant. George actually used a lot of it in the second and third prequels because he didn't have a scrap of creativity left in him. Disney basically said "Hey guys, you know the expansive lore this series you love has? Yeah, fuck it, down the toilet. You can eat our shit now."

We're mad not because Disney made a new movie, we're mad that the decided to just up and kill years and years of lore and stories that we all loved. 99% of Star Wars shit is no longer canon because Disney is fucking retarded.

Yeah, I read about that. I have to admit I'm slightly upset. His point still stands, why are people arguing about dumb shit like a lightsaber with a crossguard?

I try to be cautiosly optimistic though. Maybe the new movies won't clash that badly with the lore. And if they do, disney have just made another shitty movie.

Because hipsters. And because nerds love to whine about stuff changing. I'm guilty myself, especially when it comes to Highlander where I felt that the second movie really killed the magic of the first one.

That said, I have no idea why Disney didn't throw 50 mil at Drew Karpyshyn to write the script for the new movies. The best Star Wars story ever told was in KOTOR, maybe apart from some novels. And he wrote those too.

#101 - robuntu (12/01/2014) [-]
Why not? A lot of people make activities their whole identity.

I knew a guy who liked working out. He went to college, got a degree in exercise crap, became a personal trainer, opened his own gym, and competes in Cross Fit and weight lifting competitions.

I knew a guy who liked playing guitar. Same deal. He still does shows with his band and teaches music lessons.

If you love something, do it. F*** what other people think.
User avatar #152 - beatmasterz (12/01/2014) [-]
There's a difference between doing sports or playing and instrumetn and gaming and watching movies. Movies and games are made for easy consumption. I don't consider it a hobby. I don't even care how much I'm getting thumbed down for this. Gaming is not a "hobby".

Native American is a race, but Cherokee is a culture. Iroquois is a culture. Cree is a culture. You can be part of a race but not follow the culture that surrounds your race. For example, I am fifty percent Irish but I do not drink nor do I curse out England or celebrate ST Patrick day.

"On a commercial scale, gelatin is made from by-products of the meat and leather industry. Recently, fish by-products have also been considered because they eliminate some of the religious obstacles surrounding gelatin consumption.[2] Gelatin is derived from pork skins, pork, horses, and cattle bones, or split cattle hides.[3] The raw materials are prepared by different curing, acid, and alkali processes which are employed to extract the dried collagen hydrolysate. These processes[4] may take up to several weeks, and differences in such processes have great effects on the properties of the final gelatin products.[5]"

Regarding the religion thing about consumption of gelatine. (I'm a Muslim) There are several non-pork version of Gelatine (mainly cow n stuff). Also there is a version that is vegan/vegetarian that is made of algae (it's called agar or agarose or something).
