i dont think so. when i worked at a gas station it was programmed to recognize products that couldnt be purchased. since most candy companies dont make anything else simply add all of them to the block list. and it probably is because i worked at a gas station but i saw the reverse. a few years ago i read a study saying that 40 percent of the US is considered poor. of that 40 percent only 2 percent said they ever went hungry. it also said that approximately 70 precent of those people were able to afford luxery items and living spaces large than people considered middle class in europe.

i think the entire welfare system needs to be purged and start from scratch. say heres your last guaranteed check you have one month to reapply. drug tests and proof of trying to go further, if your a 25 year old fry cook you need to try harder

it doesnt add up that the government already payed for the food. yes two people are now buying from the farmer but at the end of the day only one person has money

my thing with foodstamps is it is improperly used. if the item has nutrition facts on the can it can be purchased with food stamps. this goes from good thinks like milk and eggs to abuse of the system like candy and energy drinks. if the government were to actually purchase the food and then give it to the people who need it and onl what tey need i would suport it but when a guy rols up in a brand new truck thats ben tricked out buys $100 worth of gas and a carton of cigarretes in cash and then throws down a foodstamps card for a redbull and some candy the system is broken and needs to be fixed

Corruption with foodstamps is a lot less than you probably think it is. Honestly for every douchebag that plays the system, there's hundreds more that are benefiting legitimately. Since you'll only be paying pennies off your taxes to fund foodstamps, I believe it's worth having it. Although streamlining to exclude candy would be a good idea, but may be complicated.
