I might be mistaken but I think a compatibility between a heart and a different body is quite rare, so I'd rather have one 40-50 year old be able to live a rather fulfilling rest of her life, than a 18 year old whose body rejects the heart and will subsequently die anyway.

being in late teen to early 20's really sucks either way really. The system doesnt really prepare anyone..
I know some older friends from from high school who're doing fine because they joined an apprenticeship right after highschool and are already having a stable job where they are slowly moving up the ladder. And some even have jobs that made them go to college while the business payed for their expenses.
while I'm in my third year of college and doing random freelance jobs at the side to pay some of my school fees. I look up jobs that are related in my studies and all I see are a few entry level stuff while most other jobs at least want more than a few years related experiences that most people dont have.
Fortunately, since I work while I'm in school I dont have a load of school loan debt up my ass. It's annoying when people tell others (usually in a big assembly group) that college is a good investment, without knowing anything about the person..
in my last years of highschool I wasnt really motivated for college but like many other parents that want you to go there, so you're pretty much pressured. both my parents went to college but they have a different idea of what it is then what it is now, then before when jobs were super easy to get and a degree was a guarantee.
one of my biggest fears right now is graduating and knowing that the degree that took years and thousand of dollars wont help me get a job.
