Indeed, I really don't like how my Church handles the three topics I listed there. I really feel as though they should be changed. Like you said, being gay is not a choice, one is born either gay or straight. People who are not Catholic should not be penalized, and priests should be allowed to marry.

But those are just my opinions.

No Christian faith believes such a thing as no Hell. I believe in most other Catholic teachings though.

I am still in debate over:
1. sin to be gay (I would be lying to you if I thought this needed to be changed two years ago. I used to be a homophobic man)
2. sin to be any other religion
3. preist unable to marry (unless married before hearing God's call)

I am mormon and I have MANY gay/lesbian/bi friends and I love them with all my heart, I don't see them any differently than me....I wouldn't be lesbian myself, but that's my own decision...I'm getting judged in my own way and they are getting judged their own way too...We all sin differently....I don't think it's a sin to be any other religion either...it makes the world different and we all can't be the same. I think it's interesting that preists can't marry, but I guess it's what they believe....and i respect that.

You are very tolerant. Not too many people like you these days. If only people could see that insulting or bashing religions is wrong like you do... Lets just say there would be a lot less wars.

Unitarian Universalists I think, have different views on on that matter, and are a Christian church.

Homosexuality is not a choice so I hardly see how it could be a sin.
Many are born outside of your religion and never hear of it, or were born before the coming of Jesus, so that would not be very fair.
Marriage can be a civil union, and is not a Christian institution.

Those 3 points are opinions though.

Indeed. My Church, the Roman Catholic Church, shares such ideology (unfortunately).
"The Church teaches that it is the one true Church founded by Jesus Christ...Catholic doctrine maintains that the Church is infallible when it dogmatically teaches a doctrine of faith or morals." Pretty much not being a Catholic, or being a "heathen" is a terrible sin punishable with the rest of eternity in Hell.

I think that is a load of crap. Hell was made by man to control man. Jesus never spoke of Hell. But, anywho, there is that.

I understand what you mean...
One thing that many people don't know about mormons is (now don't judge me, I'm just saying what mormons believe here...)
They believe that when we die,....whose that were mormon here on earth, have a chance to teach people when we die about our church and give them a chance to decide if they want to join our church and be with Jesus. We give them another opportunity if they are not happy or never had the chance to hear the gospel...we don't believe they go straight to hell if they deny it....we just feel that they weren't given the proper chance to fully hear our religion out and take the time to understand it....we like to give people a chance....I also believe that if they were an all around good person, they will be blessed...no matter what religion. I believe God shows a lot of mercy and loves us all no matter what religion :) it's all about loving others

yea, it doesn't matter what religion you are, someone in the world is going to find something they think is wrong with it...it all depends on what YOU love and believe in your religion. All that really matters is if you are a good person and are nice to others...in the end...that's what most religions are about ...that's just what I think
#606 - bamboosixtyeight (08/06/2012) [-]
I agree with the only important thing being a good person and being nice to others but most religions condemn non-believers to eternal punishment whether or not they are good people.
