There are many cases where only severe brain damage is sustained. Beyond that, regardless of caliber it would not be a painless experience. In controlled circumstances from point blank with carefully controlled and studied placement...it actually would be the single most painless, humane, and consistent way to perform an execution. Who it DOESN'T take into consideration is everyone else. It's messy as hang, makes a proper open casket funeral for the family basically impossible, is loud and not exactly peaceful for the observers, etc. For the sake of the "executee" it's by far the best way to do things though. #143 -

Kills people just as easily as it'll drop a deer or bear. Death caused by internal bleeding. Damage to heart or aortic arch ensures unconsciousness in less than 3 seconds by low blood pressure shock, death in 10-12 seconds. Maximum time until death, 3 minutes, however rated as one of the most successful, quickest, and generally least painful of the ways to go. The body remains quite intact in this case for open casket funerals. The "conscience round" is to ease the minds of the shooters to never give them the assurance they participated in killing someone. It's also commonly thought of the more "honorable" way to go, since both the lowest of criminals to the highest generals and leaders have died by this method, short only of hanging and guillotine. Brutal, but honestly, the blood is really the only downside I see here. I'd wanna go out that way at the very least if I was on death row.  no there wouldnt. lethal injection, gassing etc all require more training and specialists...alot of the time a doctor is used for lethal injection, or highly quilified individuals. a gun to the head would require a lab monkey at the bear minimum. if anything, it would save the prison money by eliminating jobs. #49 -

You're going to kill yourself why do you care about the financial cost, the world's your oyster. Just a warning, people that have survived jumping to their deaths have often found their will to live immediately as they crossed the point of no return. And most of them don't. I don't have time to look it up but forensic specialists reconstructed his last moments and it was quite unsettling because he dragged himself from the porch to a nearby tree and then after several more attempts bleed to death I think  Oh god, that sounds friggin terrible. Just imagine that situation playing out in your head, jesus christ. | ||
