The latter tend to cut at sleeves and neck lines, yes, lots of younger folks having tattoos surprises me though. None of my acquaintances have any at least, and I can't remember seeing one on calves or arms during sleeveless months either, so yeah it kinda surprises me.

If they do they must be very small and concealable though, the only tattood non-jakuza Japanese I've seen in years were (rather eccentric in looks all around) celebrities.

Lots of the younger folks have tattoos... even the yakuza have tattoos that are unnoticeable while wearing a suit or yukata/kimono

When I first moved to America, I had no idea tipping was expected, its just not a thing where I'm from. So I ordered a pizza my first week here, and the guy showed up, I took the pizza and paid, and he walked away, but while he was walking he said "Thanks for the tip asshole". I had no idea what he meant and felt like it was very rude, so I asked a friend about it and he explained. I'd never felt like a bigger tool in my life. Always tip guys, people don't get paid enough in those shit jobs.
