just about every country called "democracy" in the world is one or other form of republic.

also i think america is a federal republic...not constitutional republic

Actually, both are correct. The Constitution is the highest law of the land and it lays the structure for a federal republic, meaning it separates powers between the local, state, and federal governments.

The same can be said of pretty much any country. The social and economic elite have always had a disproportionate amount of sway in politics.

The Catholic Church is actually often in step with science: they say that you can believe in evolution and a 13.8 billion year old universe. They often say that Genesis is a metaphor and should not necessarily be interpreted as being literal.

Yet sometimes they are against science and will try to interfere with it and subsequently peoples personal lives. An example would be the use of contraception. The Church is highly against it even though the science shows that it is extremely beneficial for both individuals and society as a whole. They are technically wrong yet they continue with their unsubstantiated beliefs and try their best to enforce it on as many people as possible.

The Genesis narrative is actually a retelling of Mesopotamian myths that the Israelites adapted to their god YHWH.
