I feel like the way this is worded is actually
important from a point of view of the programming for the missile..
But it still sounds retarded as fuck.
It's describing an inertial guidance system, which is used in some cruise missiles.
The video is trying to explain the process without using any mathematical terms; this is dumb as hell, because it's like trying to teach someone how to spell without using the alphabet. Here's a much better explanation of the system:
It's really awesome for assisting pilots of aircraft and ships that are traveling predetermined routes, and for guiding missiles fired at stationary targets. It's completely internalized, meaning nothing external can detect or interfere with it. Pilots will never have a bad reading caused by environmental conditions, and missiles can't be jammed or passively tracked.
Of course, it's not flawless. Because it's internalized, it has no way of detecting what's outside of it. For pilots, this means it gets less accurate the farther away it is from the route, and it has no method of determining environmental hazards, which means if something screws it up, it could guide you into crashing. For missiles, it has no way of knowing if the target has moved or if it's being intercepted, which means it could simply miss or be shot down.
I get what it's trying to say and what it's trying to do, but I'm having a heck of a hard time following it
Much like the Missle
