| #43732 - Why did you choose a GTX 970 for a 1k+ build? TF? [+] (5 new replies) | 12/05/2015 on Technology Board | 0 |
| Because the GTX 970 is a solid performing card at 1080p gaming. Running a vast majority of games on max settings and still getting 60 FPS. #43782 -
averagepenaus (12/06/2015) [-] Depends on the person actually. If you're rich or really don't care about spending money or you just wanna game in 1080p, then yeah the 970 is good enough for a 1k build. Otherwise you're better off with a 980 for 1440p. Since you said you had that much to spend on the components a lone, I'm assuming you have even more to spend on a monitor. For a $750-800 USD build I'd expect a r9 390 (gtx 970 equivalent) and i5 processor that's a good deal currently. For 1k+ it gives me the choice to add more hard drives, a solid state drive, a better case, water cooling or a better cooler, an unlocked processor and a better motherboard. I basically build with the best performance for dollar I can get, then add other things like storage such as SSD, hard drives, how the case looks, overclockability, good overclocking motherboard, good cooler , etc. | ||
