im doing my current run with full charisma and a bit of int, so far pretty good
is the melee combat so great that if I will do melee run it will still be fun? :/

It is pretty fun against melee targets, and extremely efficient against animals like mirelurks and deathclaws.
But it suffers horribly in open areas and against ranged enemies because they usually hurt you too much before you get to them.
A pure melee run is very painful as a result, but if you mix it up with some stealth and agility (Blitz and Moving Target are basically a must) it can be pretty fun.

I got 3 charisma and no perks related to settlements. I think it bugged out when I helped a random settler fight off raiders and then invited him to my settlement, because that's the only thing I've done other than just regular Minutemen quests that's related to settling.

VATS wont make you invinsible,you still take damage

It does when you're performing a melee attack.
