Honestly the best way to play long war is to not play the normal campain because the normal campain is designed to punish you real hard when you fug up. In xcom long war, as long as youre not dead you can come back. But yea I feel you, its fucking bullshit. I was doing somewhat ok until the outsiders because gunners are op as shit and decimate pretty much anything so long as you can suppress them and then place your assault so they get flanked and try to bail out. But the 6 outsiders on a single pod thing is such fucking bullshit. Funnily enough, I did get amazing RNG on that mission and only lost my medic. Following mission had 4 thin men in a single pod on a building, however, and I got assfucked by the elevation bonus they have. Now my only good units are an assault and a gunner.
