Unless you have tons of heart statues, the ability to dodge tons of projectiles, outrun his melee attacks and high enough damage to defeat him in a short time, you'll die and have to redo the entire event again.

The golem only needs to be killed once. The cultists spawn every day.

But as already said, the best way to fight Moon Man is to build a long track or use something that outruns the Moon Man, then once you are at the far end of the map or low on health, use the mirror and heal up at the nurse. The Moon Lord won't despawn and follow you to the other end of the map.

Repeat until dead.

I love the overall upgrade of the well feed buff. And yes, i never leave the town without atleast 30 iron and regen potions. But shit. get hit by the head of those things once and say goodbye too 200 of your health!

And i already upgraded all my accessories to +4 defence (so a plus of 24 in total).

If you don't go below a certain depth, they don't actually aggro to you. They might still hurt you as they move around, but you're safe as long as you don't retaliate and keep above around 200 feet below surface level.
The key is making an absolute shit ton of regeneration and iron-skin potions. Grenades are also 75 copper now, which makes them incredibly useful since they devastate worm-type enemies.
