I need to change that on my notepad document, they're so different I just put '"season" out of habit.
I didn't like how they turned their strong female lead into a fan service / rape / tentacle rape tool that did very little to add to the narrative besides besides being the Princess Peach to our immensely overpowered Mario. The second arc seemed to rely on the Deus Ex Machina method of story telling a lot more than the first arc did, and I feel like the writers allowed Kirito to win no matter what just because he was "Kirito" at that point. We also had a lot of characters from the first arc that Kirito bonded with, and they all got their own episodes, but in the entire second arc we only get to see them in more of a cameo roll, and I feel that the show could have benefited from bringing back those characters that we only just started to get to know, instead of introducing handful of new characters that we're only going to forget about in the next arc. Also...the cousin love thing
I really enjoyed the first arc (hence my avatar) and I piss my brother off all the time by using "I solo the frontlines" as a new age "LEEEEEROOOOYYY JEEEENKINS!" in almost every game we play, but the second arc really disappointed me.

You make some interesting points. First and foremost, I must agree that the relationship between Suguha and Kirito comes off as a needless complication to an otherwise digitally-centered plotline. If anything, it seems that the writers wanted to emphasize the real-world side of Kirito as a character, and Sugu was the most convenient solution—a Chehkov's boomerang, if you will.
I also see your point on how Asuna was, in some ways, devalued as a character—she's certainly not the same admirable female lead we came to know through Aincrad. However, rather simply branding her as tentacle rape fan service (which, you must admit, is a brief and minor detail, though the molestation scene at the end was genuinely disturbing), I would say that her character has been given a similar disparity treatment as Kirito.
In order to help distinguish Alfheim Online from Aincrad (a difficult task given the shared premise of VRMMORPG), Alfheim's Asuna is less powerful, and comparably helpless. This effectively sets up the arc's 'white knight in shining armor' trope, albeit in a rather cliche manner.
If I were to guess, I'd say that the omission of the batch of side characters until the final episode's cameo scene followed the same logic: distinguishing arc two from arc one, and showing alternate sides of fan-favorite characters.
Regardless, I must applaud the studio for keeping Asuna concealed during the aforementioned molestation scene. To have seen her nude would have been utterly disparaging, and I'm glad that they avoided it.
Personally, I'd give the Aincrad arc of SAO a 9.5/10, but Alfheim a 7/10, and for many of the reasons you've pointed out. However, from a critical standpoint, I found Alfheim Online to be immensely entertaining, as it makes effective use of many writing strategies to distance itself from what SAO was thought to be. From a viewer standpoint, it was simply good.

>PS4 isn't really all that powerful. It is powerful but not "incredibly powerful". Also we still barely know anything about the console and I doubt there will be much opportunity for indie games considering the fact that it isn't open source.
>Xbox one is actually a fair bit less powerful than the PS4.
>Steambox really isn't that far away at all, I predict sometime in 2014.
>Vita is a flop and less powerful than the average smartphone.
>3DS has countless issues e.g. screen resolution, battery life and a price that is way more than it's worth. The games make up for this though.
