"Mnemosyne: Mnemosyne no Musume-tachi" has violence and gore (falling out innards, dismemberment, surgery without anesthesia) and boobs (lesbian sex) and fetishes (pleasure from getting stabbed) and traps.

There aren't many pictures on Google. Sadly.
#39 - aaffan (06/18/2014) [-]
I enjoyed Shiki, not as gory as the one you explained but still gory none the less.
#53 - goldenfairy (06/18/2014) [-]
She's perfectly enjoying this.
#41 - anonexplains (06/18/2014) [-]
Shiki wasn't about gore, but it was about violence nonetheless. Not to mention its plot is infinitely better than Mirai Nikki. Probably one of the best shows with the most satisfying ending I've ever experienced. For the last few episodes I was like "fuck it, they should set this forest on fire" and then they burned everything. Sadly people for some reason like to side with shiki as if humans were wrong, when both sides were simultaneously right and wrong.
#42 - aaffan (06/18/2014) [-]
I sided with the little girl in the picture you posted but apart from that there wasn't any Shiki I really felt sorry for. The pink haired girl was so annoying that I actually cheered when they ran over her head
#43 - anonexplains (06/18/2014) [-]
I never understood why people hate Megumi so much. As I've said, the main theme of Shiki is being wrong and right at once. She was a bitch, but she had a reason to be one. People hated her just because she didn't fit. This made her fit even less. In the end, she had no grudge against them. She didn't want to destroy the village. She just wanted to get out.
#45 - aaffan (06/18/2014) [-]
Really? It felt as if she hated everyone else because they weren't what she wanted them to be. There was a sister and a brother who tried to be friends with her but she just shrugs them off and shouts at them mostly. And she attacks their dad
#46 - anonexplains (06/18/2014) [-]
She was growing up in an environment that most likely hated her. She's 16 during the series, but you can safely assume she didn't started being different the day before episode 1. Considering people mocked her during her puberty, she probably started to blindly hate everyone. I don't know have you ever dealt with a child during puberty, but it's damn pain and no matter what you do, you'll be blamed for everything bad that has happened. Then add on top of it the fact she probably had predispositions to be a bitch all along and you have Megumi. Of course, I might be looking to much into it and maybe she was simply meant to be disliked.

She'd like them to understand, but since they couldn't, she wanted to get away. She escaped into anger and it's not her fault. She felt alone in the hardest part of her life.

Dad was attack because it was an order from Tatsumi.

Basically, I consider her a woeful psycho. Of course it's possible I'm just overinterpretating and she was meant to be disliked
#47 - aaffan (06/18/2014) [-]
It's nice talking to people who have different views on characters because most of the time everyone seems to think the same. It's still one of my favourite short anime series.
#48 - anonexplains (06/18/2014) [-]
Not in case of Shiki. Most people have one of three ways of thinking and this influence their views of characters. It's basically "Shiki were right", "Humans were right" and "Nobody/Everybody was right". As I've said, the worst are people trying to justify shiki's deeds "because humans were more monstrous".

Megumi is a unique. Almost everybody seems to hate her.

Clearly we will have to agree to disagree. But I will ask this, have you ever read the light novel? Because while still very much present, the sex isn't as important as it is in the anime (at least not in my eyes).

I'm not doing this for the narrative in any way. I'm simply doing it because I've talked to be both online and in real life that think the series is nothing more than fan services and everything else is something the author just made up for the hell of it. The whole purpose is to show that the series does in fact properly use all the mythologies and legends present within it as well as having properly used references to things not within the series itself.
#9 - astriatus (04/05/2014) [-]
Those people are closer to the truth of DxD than the information you've provided here. It's a show about sex, plain and simple. Sex is the incentive, engine and goal of the series. It wouldn't get a single view without it, and if we held the remaining parts of the narrative to the same standard that we do Steins;Gate or Spice and Wolf or Kokoro Connect, the entire thing would quickly fall to shambles. Put DxD in a vacuum in which sex appeal doesn't exist, and it's barren.

There's nothing wrong with that—again, I like a handful of shows like this—but it is what it is. It's no different than not expecting a great story from a first-person shooter: It's not why you go to them, so you don't care if gripping narrative is absent.

The same can be said of a disturbingly high number of recent and ongoing anime, I'd argue.

Perhaps you should follow my posts than, you just might find there is more to it beneath all the fan service and sexual references.

This post just scratched the surface of the Devils with more on them to come with comps on specific parts of their society. There is also much much more than just the Devils that will be done.

You can delve into the supporting mythology and lore all you want, but the fact of the matter is that virtually none of it is given any stable role in the series. If it isn't the focus of the narrative, it may still support it; but if it isn't even part of the narrative, it can't be used to support it.

Meticulously dissecting the alleged underlying facts of a story doesn't make them important, nor does it deepen or lend credence to the narrative itself. Information such as this only matters if the narrative lends it importance through its own innate structure—importance which High School DxD has clearly placed elsewhere, namely its female cast.

I mean no offense by this, but all you've done is draw parallels between the vague and frankly bastardized characters of DxD and their would-be mythological source. A character, be they a god or demon or everyman, cannot be defined by their past incarnations, as they have no bearing on the current narrative. The information in this post does nothing for the merit of DxD's narrative, as it isn't contained within it. It's less context than it is pointing out alternatives.

High School of the Dead isn't any less terrible because of brilliant zombie media; the legacy of vampires doesn't make Strike the Blood any less predictable and childish; and Strike Witches isn't any less immature despite its ties to World War 2. All for the same reason: It's clear that the writers—and indeed the series itself—don't care about that information. (For the record: I quite like HotD and Strike Witches, though I fully believe they are terrible anime.)

TL;DR: Nice information, but DxD is provably shallow.

Regardless, kudos on the post. I recommend Gingitsune: Messenger of the Fox Gods and the -Monogatari series for future installments.

Mmm I mainly wanted episode numbers so that I can record the information. I can't remember exact episode numbers off the top of my head, and writing out a description of them would be a bit awkward.

Then when you pick a show I haven't seen (In your case, your #1 and #5) it means I have to scroll through the episode lists and possibly get spoilt to the shows just so I can find the episode you're talking about and record it.

Now, I can figure out your 2-4, but would you be able to find the episode number for 1 and 5? If you don't want to that's fine, just means I can't record them.
