asasqw (11/21/2015) [-] Why are you not supporting the best chance the wasteland has to rebuild Free labor from gens 1 and 2 and with gen 3 there is almost no way to tell them apart. Not even the brotherhood could tell one of their best men was a synth till you gave them the files. While some see gen 3 as just machines it is clear that the younger generation see them as people, rights will come, especially as you leading the institute. I mean for fuck's sake they have a teliporter, do you have any idea how useful that will be once they can increase the range? #27 -
turbanmasher (11/21/2015) [-] BoS is out in the wastes doing real work though. Also they have Liberty Prime you communist scum. They really are and only because the faggots that are obsessed with the first two games insist that everyone has to be an evil or grey area cunt. Oh the BOS have to all be xenophobic pricks that only like technology yes it suits the west brother hood but the east were meant to be more friendly towards locals and helpful. Nobody is saying that The Lyons variation of the BoS can't be a moral change, it was more of the fact that Bethesda handled it incredibly poorly. The fact of the matter is the BoS are not exactly nice guys - they look out for themselves with a strict goal of acquiring technology and keeping it out of the general public's hands. It would have been totally fine if the BoS of Fallout 3 were labeled as Outcasts (like was introduced later,) instead of acting like they were a normal, typical chapter of the brotherhood. Bethesda got the BoS more right this time around. Well we saw how well the friendlier brotherhood handled things, straying from the original tenants causing the outcasts to form, denying the lone wanderer admittance to the brotherhood despite them earning it. Lyons was a hypocrite. At least with Maxson, the brotherhood was unified in the east, the Prydwin was built, Prime rebuilt, and honestly from NPC chatter the brotherhood knights like him better then Lyons. These could be the Outcasts, maybe. Maybe more people went east. I dunno. Nah the elder is from Elder lyons chapter. Maxon was the only squire in fallout 3

| The brotherhood are a bunch of cunts who only care about their toys. Lyon's brotherhood was great. I liked the brotherhood in 4, Proctor Teagan wasn't too much of an asshole, but Maxson I would totally kill. Lyons4lyf Lyon's brotherhood wasn't consistent with the lore. The whole point of the brotherhood is to keep their toys to themselves. At least they did an okay job with Maxon, though I have no idea how he grew up to be so... brown. The point is, Lyon's brotherhood put people above their goal and that set them apart from the Midwest brotherhood. The outcasts knew this and so they separated themselves from the brotherhood in order to return to it's true objective. Yeah. . . I'm aware. I'm just saying, you have a defined universe for a game, and then you twist the poster boys of the series to suit your plot needs and abandon their beliefs. They're definitely morally correct , but what I'm getting at is that the Brotherhood really is about looting and hoarding technology. What I’m getting at is that though it was possible to convince them to reintroduce technology to the wasteland in the earlier Fallouts, by the time of FNV they are really stringent and xenophobic, going so far as to actively desire the removal of tech from wastelanders, so I’m taking that as the canon. So basically what you're saying is you don't accept them as canon because you think the east coast brotherhood was forced t fit a story line? Regardless of whether or not you think fallout 3 is canon, it is widely accepted as such regardless of the minor inconsistencies. What I'm getting at is that the real brotherhood is about looting tech but Lyon's brotherhood is not true brotherhood. That doesn't make them any less consistent with the lore. They are canon, their ideology just isn’t consistent. East coast or not, they are a detachment of the original Brotherhood, and what they do isn’t what the Brotherhood is about. Then, they name the deserters of the Citadel the outcasts, when, as you said, the real outcasts are Lyon’s men. Fallout 3 is my favorite Fallout, but the black/white storyline is really not the strongest point. The Enclave is bad, the Brotherhood is good. Story's over. In FNV sometimes there just isn't a happy ending to be found, and the story has a lot of morally grey area to it. They do an alright job with it in Fallout 4, but I feel like it wouldn't have been good if the ONLY reason that they were in the Commonwealth was to protect the wasteland from the Institute. The Institute has tech, and the Brotherhood doesn't want them to. Furthermore, they want you to kill as many raiders, super mutants, and synths as possible. That's a lot less justifyable than providing clean water for the wasteland, and Dr. Li even complains about how they degraded morally after regaining control of the purifier. #117 -
anon (11/20/2015) [-] Too much moral grey is also a bad thing in games as well. There were a few NV quests where I sat their thinking "What the fuck was the point of doing that". A quest is supposed to be rewarding in some way. A morally grey quest or down right depressing quest isn't fun to do. I much prefer black and white because it allows the player to take what they want from the quest instead of given them a false sense of choice. I didn't know that's what you meant since you said they were "inconsistent with the lore" instead of saying they were inconsistent with the brotherhood itself. Yeah, my bad, but the Brotherhood and what they do is a part of the lore isn't it It's all part of the lore. Lyon's brotherhood just isn't true brotherhood.
