luderudecrude (01/08/2016) [-] you make a valid point, and I don't really disagree. What I disagree on is the particular soap box your preaching from. This is where you're suppose to come to laugh, not get angry and decide to get involved. There are other websites for that. This is where most of us go to forget what pisses us off, not remind us of new shit to be pissed off about. Thing of it like this, we all hate it when PETA commercials come on comedy central, same thing. We don't want to feel bad for those animals, we want someone to make us laugh at our pain, our frustrations, our general lack of motivation. I know I'm only one member voicing his opinion, and yours is just as valid as mine, but please rememeber, this is funnyjunk, not activistjunk or feelsjunk(though I would like to find that website too) feel free to counter my points and keep the discussion going if you feel I haven't adequately made a point. Its not so much that "I" want to make FJ a soap box, it simply is, one thing in comedy many comedians are likely to tell you is known your audience ( of course there are always those who dont give a shit). Basically I don't disagree with you, its just that for all intents and purposes there is, seemingly, a large portion of people that want to see this stuff on funnyjunk, and for some (myself included sometimes) the shit is hilarious as it is sad. I mean shit tons of people enjoy stories from that one dude Arena and his misadventures with the SJW/Bronies/fat feminazi. Whats more is trying to stop people from posting shit you or anyone else doesn't like seems to have the opposite effect, its the troll post effect, the more you complain about it the more you will see it. This also does technically fall under what you should expect from FJ, its the junk, hence Funny Junk ( believe that was the thumbs way back when too...) My best advice is just move on if you don't like it, seems kinda assholish to say but it is what it is. #6 -
luderudecrude (01/08/2016) [-] I'm getting close to moving away from funnyjunk all together. I think I'm just getting to old to like the humor styles that come along. If everyone posted their stuff on the correct channel with tags and shit, I could just block the content I don't like, but too much stuff floats around without channels or tags. You're right, I could have just pushed the right arrow, but I wanted to have this conversation with someone. I'm using the same soap box you are, and for the same reason. I just want a different outcome than you did. We partially agree on some stuff and partially disagree on others, but I think we're having an intelligent reasoned debate. While we're unlikely to change each other's minds, we may invoke actions and/or decisions in any audience members that choose to read our retorts. And I just like having intelligent debates with people that are smart enough to engage without being assholes. From my experience and considerable observation of people, in a purely not creepy mad scientists that wants to kidnap you to join his island of genetic mutated animal people kinda way, I have noticed that people change their mentality about as much as say... things in the bible get changed, that is to say almost never because of what others say and very little on its own. I can also tell you that you will be hard pressed to find any site that is better all around than funny junk, you may find a few but they will certainly lack quantity, and if they have quantity they will certainly end up like FJ, or worse, its just the way shit works in this world I'm afraid. There are tons of examples of this, and while it might be a bit trite, video games is one of the best examples I ( and many people ) can relate to. Games used to be really good, about fun and interesting new directions, but once it truly went mainstream things went down hill, it became about money and getting as much of it as possible. Call of Duty ( ya know fucking COD rabble rabble rabble) is a good marker for this, that game used to be fuck all hard and engrossing but over time as it became popular its quality went to shit, it became easier, and it became shorter, and while many might say that is because of being used to it, or nostalgia, the older stuff is still just as hard to me as it was back then. Like it or not almost everything seems to work this way in any case of consumerism ( guess thats what you would call it ) you either starve for content or you have so much of it that it just because white noise rubbish. #8 -
luderudecrude (01/08/2016) [-] I don't like the layout of most other sites, and I am shamefully computer illiterate for a man my age. Ease of use is my main priority when dealing with other sites. Only two sites that I know of use a simple right arrow to navigate. 9gag and Ifunny. I use both of those sight because I have a ton of free time on my hands right now and I run both of those, and fj out of fresh content everyday, sometimes more than once a day. If/when I ever get healthy enough to go to work, I will probably wind back down to using one site, as I wont have the free time anymore, and honestly, this much time online everyday is fuckin boring, makes my back and ass hurt from all the sitting and is just plain unhealthy. I would rather be doing almost anything than be on my computer all day. I get out for exercise when the weather is warm enough, but a little a day is all im allowed. I used Imgur for the longest time(lurker), It had a lot of the same content as FJ, just for most reasons I prefer FJ, of course you can also search around for funny/stupid funny things on youtube, just be careful with the suggested videos because those can quickly lead to the 'darker side' of youtube rather quickly ( not everyone wants to see bat shit crazy Water Canopy theory bs or Mango worm infestations) Also if you are having trouble with sitting then it could be your chair, sounds like yours may not have good neck and back support, two pillows could probably help, one for your lower back and one behind your neck will likely fix some of the problems, of course only if you can lay back against them in your chair. As for exercise I would suggest that if you can get your hands on them to get a pair of adjustable dumbbells(plates), a pair of 50lbs is a good thing to shoot for, you can start light if need be and work up through them, lots of things you can do with them from the privacy of your own home without worry of the weather, its what I'm actually doing right now though I would have liked to get a set of 100lb adjustable rather than just 50lb but I don't have that kinda money right now and have to work myself up to that, its honestly cheaper to get adjustable dumbbells than it is to get solid dumbbells, better on space too, though the solid ones for most people are easier to use. #11 -
luderudecrude (01/08/2016) [-] and before you ask, no I was not on steriods, that's not what caused my heart attack. it was just bad genetics. Not the "tub'o'lard blaming genes for their fridge full of diet coke" genetics. My family has heart problems, my heart attack was really severe and the doctors said the only reason I survived was because of my athleticism and good diet. #10 -
luderudecrude (01/08/2016) [-] Before I had a heart attack that put me out of society, I was an athlete. Martial artist, full time employee, weight lifter and played basketball every day. I could use another, better chair, but that's not going to happen. The main reason I think this chair hurts my ass so much is I hate sitting down, im not use to it. I'm suppose to be on the go. Youtube I watch the hell out of, mostly science videos because when I'm not working out, im a nerd. Hell when I am working out, im a nerd. Always trying to get the opinions of better athletes on how to improve my skills/gains, is just as nerdy as passing around a book on quantum mechanics #12 -
arkis (01/08/2016) [-] Alls I have to say to that is, That Pauli Exclusion principle and Heisenberg uncertainty principle. If you are interested in a bit of ... psychology/biology type science I guess you would call it, I would suggest looking up a man named George R. Price, he had an interesting theory that unsettles(challenges their beliefs) some people. #13 -
luderudecrude (01/08/2016) [-] I'm a total atheist, it would have to be some pretty damning evidence to change my beliefs, but I'm interested in basically all forms of science. whatever mood im in is what i'll study. currently on materials science (chemistry) and stuff relating to electro magnetism. I;m trying to find funding to develop a prototype for a manufacturing process to revolutionize the whole manufacturing industry. I could be wrong, but i Really believe that my wide field of study has allowed me to connect some dots that other people have missed. If I can find an inventor to build a prototype, with the money to pay for a patent I have some things I want to patent that would give me money to run down a lot of ideas i've had lately. All i do is sit around and learn shit, so my ideas can't be too far off even if im wrong, i can toy with the idea until it works if i have a lab. And a couple things I know will work if i can again, find someone to build me a prototype. Sell the products I know will work to research more on the ones im not sure about Ah well I didn't mean to imply religious belief, he did a work on altruism that from what I understand of it, basically says there is no truly selfless act, its been a long time since I originally looked a it so things might not be exactly what I remember, but I do remember he came up with the theory of no true altruism. As for the whole multiple sciences and understanding of them leading to new idea, ya is in my experience a true thing. Where a single skilled person might say... come up with a new alloy, they may not know how to apply it, where as a person who has their mind build around multiple fields will likely come up with many ways it can be used in said fields or even in fields beyond their understanding. With enough understanding of different sciences you can actually bullshit your way( logical approximation ) to a true answer to a problem or question, though proving it is a bit hard for people without the knowledge to create the formula or research backing it. There is actually a lot of science kind of done that way really aside from the obvious scientific method( or Socratic method depending on how you go about it) , they take and make an educated guess on things based on what they already know, the Higgs boson I believe was one such incident where everything that was known pointed towards the Boson existing despite actual evidence on hand, and it proved to be right. Anyways while this was an interesting chat I need to go get shit done, have a good day/night though. #15 -
luderudecrude (01/09/2016) [-] hit me up whenever you're on, not to sound needy and/or clingy with someone i've just met, but one of the most terrible things about not being allowed out, especially in this weather is missing good conversations. You're right about the Higgs, and on the origins of altruism the best work I know of is Richard Dawkins, an evolutionary biologist I'm sure you've heard of him.

| yeah but the social norms attached to biological sex ARE just that: social norms. They can change at any moment: like for the last few centuries, men have generally short hair and wear pants. A few centuries ago, boys and men had long hair and often wore fluffy shorts or skirt-like shit. Because having long hair means you are rich enough to maintain such a hair-style (because you can afford to take baths often enough and can afford hair products). It can also depend on region: women and children in the Middle East are "seen and not heard", whereas women and children in Africa often play important roles in society. So of course "gender roles" exist in society, but as long as gender roles have existed there have been people that break these rules. We don't need to continue to bash our heads against a wall on this issue - it's been dealt with time and time again: men can wear skirts and have long hair; women can wear jeans; men can act effeminate and it's OK for them to learn to cook and sew and shit. A woman can be the bread-winner. So, we don't have to fight for "equality among gender perceptions" - we already have it. | ||

ironthrush (01/09/2016) [-] I grew up in a 300 student school (K-12, only 300 students) and I remember this one time some idiot edgelord fuck pulled a knife on someone else in the halls saying shit like "Do you think I won't cut you right here?!" and the sort. I'd say a good 5 people all reached for their pockets (halls weren't too crowded, everyone was already in their rooms waiting for classes to start) and this one meaty motherfucker of a nord just slammed the edgelord into a locker. Edgelord dropped the knife in the process and just started crying like a total faggot until a teacher came up and walked edgelord to the principals office with the nord walking next to him casually telling what happened. Moral of the story: people need to stop being so "Oh noes call this guy or that guy to stop the bad man" and be more "Fuck your shit if you wanna tango let's fucking go m8 I'll rek ya cunt." TL;DR: Protect yourself and others in your immediate area. Don't be a pussy and rely on someone 15 minutes away to save you from something happening right now. thing is, majority of gun related deaths are suicides. the violent crime/murder stats have been decreasing in the last few decades too, but no one brings up those numbers. They keep shouting "This thousand died, this ten thousand died" when that's a drop in the bucket if not less than the total population in america which is in the goddamn 300 million's. #4 -
anon (01/08/2016) [-] GUNS ARE OUR RIGHT TO BE FUCKING HAD SO THAT NOBODY CAN TAKE AWAY OUR RIGHTS< WHETHER ITS ANOTHER CITIZEN OR THE GOVERNMENT ITSELF AND ITS AT THE DAY AND AGE AND POINT IN TIME WHERE AMERICAS GOVERNMENT REALLY REALLY SHOULD JUST GIVE UP AND COLLAPSE AND ALMOST EVERY POLITICIAN SHOULD FUCKING DROP A BUCKET OF BLEACH DOWN THEIR GULLET. People don't realize, they can't they're fuckin sheep. And the ones that think they aren't sheep but wolves who know it all and all the facts and the conspiracies are just brainless cows that can see without wool over their eyes but don't actually get the big picture. They think its all hidden conspiracies and junk, man the government cant even run the post office correctly. How do u expect them to handle conspiracies. They cant get abve like a 60% package delivery date daily, we train soldiers who get paid 20k to shoot 100k missiles and sand ninjas who wont make 20k in a lifetime playing with ak's and sticks in a fucking third world desert. like pleeeaase fuck the world #19 -
anon (01/09/2016) [-] This should have happened years ago. There are way too many conflicting cultures in the USA. They should just split it up in west coast (california), midwest, eastcoast, south (texas), probably something else, alaska and hawaii, even though those last two most likely won't sustain on their own. #3 -
anon (01/08/2016) [-] The biggest fucking mess I find in America is the double fucking standards everywhere. Guns are bad but guns are good to protect us, killing is bad unless its in a way, or an accident then its just an evil that has to exist. In the usa we run off the Justice system which is so fucking flawed because all it does is contradict itself. You can get high of prescription drugs if they are given to you by some quack. Remember SHAQ got a doctorate in medicine, anyone fucking can. You can drink yourself to death and you can give yourself all the cancer you want but you can't do a lil coke or have the devils lettuce because heaven forbid those things will turn good innocent people in heathens right? BECAUSE FUCKING PEOPLE DONT UNDERSTAND that people who make shitty life decisions and are heathens or fuck ups or morons and degenerates turn to quick fixes like drugs because they have nothing else. Successful people do drugs, unsuccessful people do drugs, either way its for enjoyment. Yeah you can get addicted, but you can get addicted to ANYTHING. And addiction is the problem Americas politicians should address more so than anything, its addiction and public health both mental and physical. Not the things that people misuse or abuse that are the problem. Things, objects, etc are never problems. Its only the fucking people man. Its always people. I fucking hate America so much because so many people here just wallow and bask in it. #2 -
anon (01/08/2016) [-] America is a place filled with stupid fucking mongrels bro. They don't understand correlation and causation, much less have the brain ability to comprehend what the difference between those two things are. Every system is a fucked up backward mess with "logic" that contradicts itself backing it up. From the judicial system to finance, to education, to big business. Every single thing is a backwards fucked up mess because its run by humans. The human race is doomed, because idiots create other idiots mostly of the time accidentally. Idiots raise idiots, and idiots teach idiots, idiots are in charge of other idiots. Its fucking gross.

Anything that can breach the peace is not protected. What that is, exactly, depends on the judge in charge of the case. She should be charged for inciting a riot.
