i would of course consider environmental influences such as parents and friends, but seing as there people getting bullied over and comiting suicide, i would asume the brain also plays an important role, if she thinks it was a way out, or even have considered and done thing like flashing and having multiple intercourse with different individuals, i would guess that would pass on the following generations if she had children.

This whole comment...hurts to read...

Okay first, yes you are christian and you follow the gospels. However, you also follow the old testament.....it's the basis of the laws for the entire bible, Jesus followed them, and all of his followers did as well. You cannot pick only a part of the bible to follow and be christian, that implies you accept all of it. If you are disregarding the old testament, then you are disregarding (atleast in your belief) the literal word of god, where the new testament is written through man.

So you are saying you don't follow the book your god wrote himself?
User avatar #188 - arawan (10/26/2012) [-]
There is such ignorance of Catholic teaching and belief that it's actually frightening considering the large number adherents and infinity resources for educating yourself on the matter. Frankly, you have no excuse that would explain why you'd trying to tell someone what their belief system states without even a cursor examination of said belief system.

Jesus disregarded laws from the Old Testament as well (ie, He ate pork). Considering that the Old Testament covers the Old Covenant (covenant meaning agreement) with God, that makes sense. New Covenant means new laws and the New Testament covers that. Of the Old Covenant laws, only the Ten Commandments (with an addition) are explicitly expressed as surviving into the New Covenant. Also, my belief isn't that any of the Bible is literally the direct word of God expressed without any intermediaries. The Church doesn't teach that either. Gospels are read as literal because they are accounts written in living memory of Christ.

So I'm saying I'm following the Gospels and none of the book was actually written by God.

And that makes your case any stronger?....it just enforces the fact that you are picking and choosing what is metaphoric while believing your god is real. Just think for a moment that maybe (well actually not maybe, it is) your god is a metaphor for the unknown.
User avatar #184 - arawan (10/25/2012) [-]
Uh, no. I'm Christian and follow the Gospels, not the Old Testament. Why bother keeping the Old Testament? Because there is still Truth in them, just not necessarily fact.

I was raised as a Catholic, even got confirmed.

Agnostic now due to the mass amounts of bullshit I see, read, and hear nowadays.
Oh and you know, went to fucking school and took some biology classes and studied evolution for a week.
User avatar #185 - arawan (10/25/2012) [-]
I too was raised Catholic and I am confirmed. And Church's teachings on evolution is summed up in one word: okay. Same with the Big Bang theory.

But... you believe in the bullshit regarding Jesus Christ?

Face it, your entire Bible is bullshit.

Christian: This joke about my God doesn't bother me in the slightest and I won't make big deal about.

Atheist: I STILL HAVE TO FIND A WAY TO INSULT YOU!

Seems about right.

well IMO jesus speak in (or with) parables because in this way everybody no matter if you are a peasant or a "glorius master race" you will understand the messege... is the same with the bible... adam culd be the first human group to stablish a comunity, eve was created from adam, eve (the second comunity) was a sub grup who went independent from the first one, eve take the forbiden fuit, i see it as knowledge, and pass it to adam... and so on everything makes sense... i belive in the resurection of Jesus but it can be a form to say that the christian religion die with his death but resurect later aparently from nothing... i recall IMO...
