Currently I live in Canada, I am unsure of the weapons laws here. In England and Norway all my knives regardless of size had to be in a cover (even the flip knives) or they would be considered weapons. In Singapore they are crazy with laws and in the Netherlands they just don't like violence. So my idea of what is legal and what is not is kinda just staying on the safe side.

What you say is fair enough, at this point its just a matter of opinion really, and I have to say I would rather have a multi tool with multiple knives on it than one silly flip knife :P.

Ya i agree and i double checked the pictures most of these people are living in that states and pretty much the rest didn't list a location and while the laws vary state to state here in MI anything under three inch blade that doesn't automatically open like a switch blade or a butterfly knife is legal and i only saw one knife which may have violated that

Because most likely it is not as useful as a multi-tool that takes up the same amount of space or a knife designed to be used for utility purpose rather than cleaning a fish or making a stick to barbecue wieners on (Knives are, as I assume you know, designed for different purposes). Carrying those knives are illegal and serve generally no real purpose other than to feel safe. It can also be dangerous if people don't know what they are doing with said knives.
User avatar #139 - applesaucers (02/05/2013) [-]
Of course knives are designed for different purposes but most of the time if your carrying one its because you expect you may need to cut something open and pretty much any knife can do that and i don't know where you live but most of the knives depicted here are perfectly leagal

Sure but most of these knives aren't utility knives, they are knives people find "cool", doing a quick overlook the engineer, firefighter and plus size model were the only ones to have a utility knife/tool set instead of a single blade with a grip either for stabbing purposes or for the purpose of looking "cool/useful".
User avatar #131 - applesaucers (02/05/2013) [-]
doesn't need to be a "utility" knife to be carried for utility purposes the great thing about knives is pretty much anyone will get the job done and why carry something that looks meh when you can carry something that looks badass and not lose any usefulness

You can do considerable amount of damage with a 3 inch pocket knife if you aim for the right place, accidental or not.

You will find if you ask the police if they consider it a weapon they will say yes.
User avatar #121 - applesaucers (02/05/2013) [-]
ya you can do alot of dmg to someone else who is unarmed with a 3 inch blade if they have a gun its not happening and its not exactly likely for someone without a gun to assault you... or for you to be assaulted in the first place just saying most of these people carrying the knife for utility not as a weapon

That's exactly the rule in my college. 15 minutes for a professor, 20 if they have a doctorate. She does not. We waited the 15 minutes then left. Then when I got home I saw this in my school email and laughed.
