Dream reading is pretty much a dead end because dreams are our brains way of making sense of emotions and events during the day/week. The most empirical we can get from interpreting dreams are events like antareswolf has described with teeth falling out. This usually denotes emotions akin to anxiety and self consciousness. I used to have dreams where my teeth would fall out and looking back I can connect them to moments that I felt anxious about my life or appearance. There are other dream phenomena that are connected to emotions that multiple people share but I can't remember them off the top of my head.

TL;DR dream reading is bunk, but it doesn't mean our dreams are not connected to real life events/emotions

Freud's "The Interpretation of Dreams" struck me as some made-up bullshit. It's hard to believe he's the father of psychology, but depending who you ask that field is largely a lot of bullshit also.

a lot of freuds works has been disproven as false. but he did create a lot of the basic concepts for psychology and popularized it to the masses. not to mention that the branch of psychology he developed is still widely used to this day(its somewhat refined nowadays tho.but it still follows some of the basic concepts)

it seems to be a common theme among dreamers of dreams...outside of you i have met atleast two other folks who have these sort of dreams.
