He's known for that deer character and Pozimi (this Slovenian snow monster).

When it comes to computers I won't do it for nothing, people don't realize how much time that is. I don't mind helping but goddamn if I'm gonna use up a bunch of my limited time on this earth helping somone, least they can do is some food.

True story once, I help my mother with stuff like this a lot and she was amd at me one day so she wouldn't accept my offer to help, goes to staples, and comes back when they wanted 200$ to rune a recovery software.

Needless to say it was nice to finally have somone see how much stuff like that normally goes for.

The bigger one here is a Cassowary; the most horrible bird alive. It's probably the only thing with feathers worse than a Canadian Goose.

Yes, but they mean infantry protection, not armor. As in the Russians were just so numerous they said fuck it bring a bunch of guys with anti tank weapons along with the tanks.

ohhhh okay, i was skeptical about how a human body would even do anything to help deflect a tank shell lol
User avatar
#52 - windson (07/22/2015) [-]
Neither spaced armor, nor sandbags, nor humans can deflect rounds.

These are various ways to protect from HEAT rounds.

They might have been behind the curve politically, but they have caught up to the rest of the first world for the most part. The sins of the past is no reason for genocide, in fact isn't that extremely hyporcitical. I mean, you want to create more suffering becuase suffering used to exist? What the fuck.

But it clearly says sandbags were used. Tactics were bum rush and flank mostly
#60 - anon (07/22/2015) [-]
Usa didn't use sandbags because they were useless, and only slowed down the tank.
Here Patton himself tells the crew to stop using them.
#72 - anon (07/22/2015) [-]
I could imagine using the tanks to haul around sand bags to then set up temporary barricades.
#86 - mikethemerciless (07/22/2015) [-]
Or to cause HEAT shells to blow up prematurely, instead of inside the tank

US tank tactics in WWII: Throw more tanks at it.

I believe Patton said something along the lines that they only reason they could advance so quickly is that they could pay the quota of sacrificing two tanks for every German one they encountered, although I can be wrong, it's been ages since I last read anything about the subject.
#120 - falloutsurvivor (07/22/2015) [-]

User avatar
#69 - ninesundev (07/22/2015) [-]
The sandbags were no armor. They just carried them.

A sandbag is pretty useless if a 88 hits it. The tactic in WWII was to throw as many shermans at a tiger as it's turret drive can handle and then one more. And after 4 - 5 dead tanks the 6th on has a chance to actually get behind the tiger and land a shot.

The "tactic" was to kill 16 - 20 own soldiers just to get a chance of hitting a tiger. If two tiger were spotted they got the hell out of that region and requested air support.

The US sacrificed their people just like the Russians did.

Both the US and the Russians just had way more people to send into war than the axis had. Mass instead of class.

US deaths 419,400
USSR deaths 27,000,000

Just like the Russians alright.
#114 - anon (07/22/2015) [-]
Reality a little bit more complicated.
According to the latest data USSR military casualties about 8 - 8,500,000 ( plus about 2,700,000 killed in Germany as POW's)
civilian casualties during nazi occupation about 10,000,000

For contrast, here is an Germany military casualties at East front about 5,000,000 plus their 3,000,000 allies. (plus 150,000 as POW's)
#113 - angrybacteria (07/22/2015) [-]
While you do make a good point, there are a few things to remember with those statistics.

1- The USSR fought Germany for just short of four bloody years on the eastern front. The USA fought on the western front for only about one year.

2- The 20,000,000+ dead Soviets were mostly civilians. Remember that they lost territory while the American citizens were safely on the other side of the world.

3- The American forces were more conservative with their infantry units than the Soviets. They still did use "human wave" attacks which were not as common on the western front. American tank strategy however was wasteful because the we fielded mostly medium weight tanks which had crappy guns that barely worked against Panzer-IV or Tiger armor.

Overall though, the USSR still used spam more than we did.

#85 - mikethemerciless (07/22/2015) [-]
We also didn't use our men on our tanks, and we had better equipment, supplies, etc. We still had the same basic tactics, just better equipment and weapons to do it.
Many Russians held weapons from WWI, if they had weapons at all, they also were able to throw more men because they didn't have to cross an ocean to get to Axis powers.

#143 - itembox (07/22/2015) [-]
We actually helped design the armor for Russia's tanks.
Since Russia had the raw resources we did we knew that given the right information they could do just as much damage.

kinda same reason why i dont play dankest dungeon that much anymore...it just relies too much on rng rather than skill or actual planning...
