It's not that hard to separate what you think of a game and what it is though.

I can see there was things done well, as well as the games flaws, and what was done different.

Too short, the new onion system was a good change since it makes it more convinient, unlike previous games it focuses much more on time management which gives it more of the rts feel it was meant to have, the enemies seemed to be easier than before, they pulled off the new pikmin types very well, the motion controls did occassionaly get in the way although it did add to the gameplay, the use of the Wii U gamepad to act as a minimap and path maker was a great compliment to pikmin 3 since they wanted the game to focus on time managment.

I loved pikmin 3, it was incredible. How much I enjoyed it? 10/10
As a game? Looking at gameplay, controls, graphics, and all that jazz? 8.5/10

Some would argue and say the game was perfect length and the onion system wasn't a good change. Some would argue the enemies are harder than before and they didn't like the new pikmin types. But I haven't played it and I am not planning on it since I didn't play the first 2. It just bothered me when I saw all the people thinking when they watch a review they werent going to hear some opinions by the person who made the review.

Will they be making a fire emblem for the Wii U?

Did i at least make my case?

Also yes, they're doing some weird cross over with shin megami tensie on the Wii U.

Yeah I got what you are saying. I would be fine if they just remade 7 for the wii u. 7 I think was the one with Lyn Eliwood and Hector.

Oh yea, also about the pikmin games? I recommend playing the 2nd one. 1st was above average, had a lot of problems though. 2nd one? Honestly, it was incredible, just great game solid 9/10. 3rd game was pretty good, made a plethora of improvements in terms of mechanics which was incredible, but actual game content just really not up to snuff to the 2nd. Pikmin 2 had way more enemies, more to explore, and was way longer.

Hehe, I've never actually played fire emblem. I do plan to borrow the new one from my cousin. Which other ones would you recommend I play?

#5791898 - angered (08/18/2013) [-]
Fire emblem 7 (It is just called fire emblem though) its on the GBA. That one is extremely hard and still challenges me today. Then there's sacred stones for the GBA that one is easier because you can choose when to do the missions and when to train. For the first one you have to do mission after mission and it requires a lot more strategy. And the newest one is my favorite. Is pikmin 2 on Wii or gamecube?
User avatar #5791919 - enteroreninenine (08/18/2013) [-]
Should be easy to get both of those on an emulator.

Pikmin 2 is on the gamecube, but they re-made it with motion controls on the wii too.

I am a big nintendo fan, love their games, but come on. They don't do plot.

What you were saying about the reviewer though, I mean if it was some dude on youtube giving an opinion of the game, of course his opinion will get in the way. If he's a profession game critic review guy thing, then they are right, their job is to tell you what the game is, not what they think of it.

The point wasn't the plot. It was about the character's reactions to it. They didn't bread new grounds with plot points or events (except maybe the ending), they broke it by putting believable characters into said situations. In fact, the entire point of starting with Joel's daughter and having all of the advertising focus on Ellie was to play with your expectations; you knew what was going to happen, but you didn't know how.

That's basically how the whole story of the game goes. You know what's going to happen, but the experience is about the why and the how.

I get the point of the game. But I would have liked more surprises in the story to get a real emotional reaction of the player not the characters. The only time the game did this for me was the end. I was hoping all deaths would leave a emotional reaction to me but only 1 death and the end left me with the feeling I was hoping to feel the entire game. It is a good game. But it wasn't what I hoped it to be and it just wasn't a game for me.

No, all the praise it got was definitely due to its story and animations. It also had some really top notch level and environment design, but the gameplay itself was just good. It wasn't game changing or revolutionary, it was just really gameplay, which happens to rarely go along with decent stories in games.

I think what also really helped it stand apart from other games that are more linear story based games is that it came out after Bioshock Infinite, which was heralded as so great again because of its story. People realized that LoU was so competant because by comparison the gameplay of Bioshock Infinite really isn't, and so LoU by default kind of got the praise of both games wrapped up into one.
#154 - angered (08/17/2013) [-]
I tried to play bioshock infinite but it kept on crashing for some unknown reason. Which is strange because my computer handles skyrim. I loved the story itself If I were just rating the game on story its easily 9.5-10. But some parts of the story were predictable. They introduced two black characters and I don't know one person who didn't predict their deaths. And since they said the main characters were ellie and Joel it was kind of obvious the other girl (Tess i think) was going to die. Same with Joels real daughter. Seeing how the commercials in the game showed winter parts of the game you could know you weren't getting rid of ellie at the capitol building. They just made some stuff predictable.

You could literally make a cycle like that for any game. All you're doing is stripping it down until its just a system, but in reality, every game is a system. But if a game is good, it provides the illusion that you're doing something more. For me and most people who played it, LoU did a fantastic job of that. With the exception of the combat segment after the horse chase, I never felt that the gameplay was very tedious. The game had top notch level design and the real time crafting system combined with the great enemy AI always kept things tense, and I was constantly finding newer and better ways to dispatch groups of enemies.
#152 - angered (08/17/2013) [-]
The A.I was alright some things were bad though Like when you are sneaking sometimes Ellie will just run next to you. And the zombie A.I were targeting you more than your teammates which I can understand because it adds more challenge but in a game like the last of us I would have preferred Ellie being able to die causing you to constantly look after her and make sure no zombies attack her. But no Ellie can literally run into a clicker and nothing will happen. I am not saying the last of us is a bad game I rather like the game. But it did not live up to what everyone was saying about it.
