anon (12/19/2015) [-] Cuckoldry is more about feeling beta, I guess. So unless your girl is being treated like a submissive bitch by a clearly dominant and possessive chick who can fuck her better than you can, or she's with a more alpha guy, then it's just hot lesbian sex. I doubt it'd appeal to those with a cuck fetish. That's about as near an example as my research suggests. Also I need to go fry some bacon and punch baby seals now. cuck fetish is about humiliation. This is more just wanting to see two hot girls fuck each other, which is such a common desire it's barely a fetish. I mean, if you're already attracted to girls... For whatever reason, most people see same-sex cheating as more acceptable than opposite-sex cheating. Maybe because they're not used to viewing the opposite gender as competition I dunno, unless I'm participating, I don't get how people get off to lesbian porn/sex in general. I mean, hentai I still get. Atleast if it's something involving a dude. It's just when I watch lesbian stuff I always end up thinking, in my head (where I am there), who am I? Do I just sit in the corner and watch? What is my purpose here.

Tusura (12/18/2015) [-] It's illegal here in Maryland, USA to vape inside any public building that isn't a vape store. Yes, I'm a vaping pleb faggot. I started to quit smoking cigarettes, and I've been a year without cigs now. I don't use it in front of people unless I'm in a smoking area. I just like my clouds, but I try to be courteous with it. No one else wants to deal with my bad habit. Fellow Marylander, here. I had no idea there were any laws regulating where people can vape. I work in a walmart, and people constantly walk around vaping in the store. I don't really mind if it's a thin vapor with a minor scent, but when they are spitting out clouds that make the entire 15-foot radius around them smell like the Pillsbury dough boy's asscrack, it's annoying as shit. That looks like the iDroid from Phantom Pain. *Puff* WHOA-HOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. A Phantom Cigar vape doohickey would look great, though. #26 -
Tusura (12/19/2015) [-] I've got a clone Mutation X V5. Air flow is WAY too much. If you can see it on the "Gold" top there. It was my 2nd cap after my Zenith V2 which had almost no airflow. MXV5 kinda sucked to be honest. No flavor because it's got too much air flow. The Twisted Messes has a really nice air flow for my tastes, and isn't a clone. It's fairly expensive, but they also sell the base of it by itself in case you have a build you don't want to get rid of, you can just buy a new coil base separate from the cap. Same story, plus it's more convinient when home, so my apartment doesn't reek of tobacco I did it when it first came out and there was really no rules on it. I live in the United States can you do me a solid and thumb up that negative comment? its bothering me .-. it was when i asked D: apparently someone got to it before you did. thanks tho bud

anon (12/18/2015) [-] they have their issues like picasso's art is all fucked up shapes. it's part of the charm. or something. Well mine has better hair and is the product of eight months in Minecraft. In my heart, I know which is truly superior. Wait how'd you get that form mine craft? And why are there slight variations to your pictures? This is like one of those really easy spot the difference things. #140 -
deathchain (12/19/2015) [-] How'd I get it from Minecraft? Well by building it, of course! And there's slight variations because there exist two versions, the one with the long strand of hair which I think was a recolor of a different pony, and then the one I'm using which is probably based off the recolor but modified to have AJ's correct mane. What the fuck nigger you can't even tell it's minecraft in your picture. Why go through all that trouble I wanted to see if I could build something of this magnitude and actually finish it, particularly after seeing mattmikeman's giant Vinyl Scratch pixelart: /channel/ponytime/Vinyl+scratch+pixel+art+final/dmohGqz/ I don't think it's as intentional or stylistic as that. I think he just has a hard time taking things out. I won't deny it has a weird charm, though. People love it, after all. But that doesn't mean he can't do better. PW is a good example of a much more focused and slimmer MGS experience. It's one of the best ones narratively, and it's so much less bloated than any of the other games. mgspw also did a great job of making all of the characters(and even the faceless mooks you hired into msf) more alive by the optional casette tapes. i just loved listening to them talk smack and recount the events of the day and such. it was a shame how they turned the casette tapes function into a history lesson in mgs5... but i will have to profess...the zero tapes. were maybe the best writing kojima had ever put out in his lifetime... way to make a mostly vague villain character into a more tragic anti villain and actually retroactively make every one of the more boring meet ups with the said anti villain a lot more likeable. I disagree, I think MGS4 functioned best as a narrative. As someone who platinum'd the game on PS3 (Obviously I'm not an EXPERT, but I've played every game including the sidescrollers extensively), I feel that MGS4, while the gameplay was fun, functioned much better as this interactive movie. But that said, Peacewalker is DEFINITELY close second to me, personally, as it's comic-based cutscene style was captivating as well as cool. I WILL say though that I've only experienced it on PSP, and although I own it on PS3, I haven't taken the time to replay it. "Functioned better as this interactive movie." Right there is where you have a problem. This is a game, and needs a good balance between gameplay and cinematics at the very base minimum. When it comes to writing a narrative for a game, you have to be able to show so much more than tell. It's always valuable in writing, but even more so in games where the player should be playing as much as possible. Cutscenes can exist, because they can be awesome, but they shouldn't be so long. I believe even the first 90 minutes of MGS4 is like... 30 minutes of actually playing? Maybe? Kojima could cut down on a lot. A LOT. Especially with MGS4, with it not only having some of the most bloated writing in the series, but some of the worst in the series. Thanks to how many loose ends he had to tie up, as well as shoe-horning in so many characters, the game could easily cut out like 20 hours or more of its time in story while still getting the jist across. This is evident in the characters of... the guy who sells guns, Drevon?, and the beast girls. They take so long to be talked about, that the game slows to a heaving, weezing crawl, and that's not even considering some of the nonsense during the debriefing cutscenes. Even for a movie, it's a drag. It's pacing is bad, it's new characters are bad, and the conflicts are vague and confusing at best. That isn't to say there aren't some legitimate good scenes in 4, it's just surrounded by a whole lot of nonsense that goes up and beyond even what MGS fans should accept. While I do agree that Drebin and the B&B were needlessly... well... there, I feel you're judging it on this arbitrary basis that there is any golden standard or guideline for a "great game". As it stands alone, I felt the game was fun, entertaining, and personally, the cutscenes were probably my favorite part. One of the reasons I've always enjoyed Metal gear is that I LOVE the cutscenes and really, I look at it not as a game, but a movie-game mashup. Based on Kojima's passion for movies and story telling, I don't think that is in any way a mistake. The only issue I really had, in fact, was Otacon's melodrama when it came to Naomi. It felt entirely forced. In short, I think Metal Gear really is what it is, and shouldn't be judged in a breakdown comparison, but judged by the level of enjoyment. While I completely understand someone not being into long cutscenes, I'm that guy who plays to see the story, so I was satisfied. On the other hand, despite enjoying the gameplay of TPP, I was really disappointed with the fragmentation of story and the complete lack of any real emotional connection between missions and the story. Not to mention, the ending was more than disappointing... it hardly even had one. There needs to be some kind of standard. Just like with any medium, there are things that clearly work better for what the medium should be working towards. Yes, the point of all medium is to ultimately entertain, but to toss out any discussions on how the medium could improve on a game-by-game basis really kills any avenue in improving games. How can we judge what's good and bad when it doesn't matter as long as one person in the whole wide world liked it? Simple: by admitting that fun can be had on any level on any quality, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's good. How do you determine what's good? It depends on the game and the argument you're making for it. For example, you're arguing that it's a movie-game mash-up and therefore should be judged not on the standards of a typical game, but something else. Okay... how about another MGS? Not PW, because that was made for a different kind of console, and therefore limitted in what it could do. Not TPP because Konami fucked it too much, and I don't think that's fair for this particular discussion. So, how about MGS3? One of my favorite games of all time that shared a very similar formula as 4 in how it presented itself. It's full of cutscenes, stealth gameplay, and it's just simply the game that came before 4. For all intents and purposes, 4 should be 3 but better. And, I feel, thanks to how it approaches almost everything, it is not. It is a worse game in narrative, pacing, development, and arguably gameplay. That last one feels less clear cut to me, but the rest can be by just a simple side-by-side comparison. #88 -
migueldecervantes (12/19/2015) [-] I really wish more people would think the way you do. There is an extreme unwillingness to approach creative endeavors in an objective, logistical way. I hear the cop out "It's all subjective bruh lolz" way too often. I believe you can reach a compromise of liking something, but recognizing it's flaws. I'm just a firm believer that there's a difference between liking something, and claiming something is good. Because, as said, one is an actual claim. A claim that should be defended with actual arguments. People are absolutely free to like anything they want, because there are a million dumb reasons to like anything. But when it comes to a critical, analytical, and academic look at art, standards should exist. otherwise there'd be no point in discussing it outside of just explaining yourself. I'm hoping to be a game critic one day... so I guess I feel like I need to approach it this way. It tends to be seen as a killjoy, but if we want the art of games to improve, I feel it's absolutely necessary. #90 -
migueldecervantes (12/19/2015) [-] I repeat: I very much like the way you think. And also I do not think there needs to be an absolute objective criteria. It varies from work-to-work. I still believe logical arguments must be made to determine something as "good". Then again, the question "Is it good?" begins with liking or disliking something and trying to reason out why you like or dislike it. Afterwards, through this reasoning one may form good arguments and thus debate whether something is good or not. You can say, for instance: "If you prioritize storytelling in a video game, then you ought to play Chrono Trigger," and then proceed to affirm this claim with facts and an explanation. But I don't think one can compare the facets of a medium and say something like "Yes, the gameplay is seriously defective [provides facts and an explanation] but that's not what makes a game; the narrative is good [provides facts and an explanation] and that's all that matters. Thus, the game is good." The latter would be faulty criticism, I think. That comes from understanding what the work is trying to do, I think. What's the point? Is it trying to be a compelling story? Just a fun game? Is it meant to be easy? Hard? Sad? Happy? When understanding what the game is trying to do, that helps a lot when deciding those things. Because then it matters much less what you like, and just matters how much the game has achieved in its goal. And that can be determined by comparing it to other games that have similar goals, formulas, and ideas. I don't like games that don't really treat it's narrative well, for example, but I can still see where the game is coming from even if it doesn't. Some just use stories to contextualize the gameplay (such as Rainbow Six: Siege), and some do it well, because the story gets out of the way and the gameplay comes first. And while I may not get super into the game or bored of it quickly, I just put it in the "I didn't like it" pile and not the "it was bad" pile. It just turns into, "Yeah, it was good, it just wasn't for me." Simple. #139 -
migueldecervantes (12/19/2015) [-] Could you give me your opinion on something, please? What, in your opinion, makes for a compelling story? I know it is a very broad question, but I would just appreciate your general thoughts on this. Thank you. Different answers for different mediums, and many of the answers do have some exceptions. I guess it's hard to say objectively what a story SHOULD have in order to be compelling. Except... one thing actually. A point. It has to have a point. A compelling story shouldn't just be style, or cool things happening to cool people. It shouldn't rely on hype or flash all the way to the end. It should have a theme underlying everything. That theme should carry it from beginning to end, and when it does get to the end, the story has to have said something about that theme. Since we're talking about MGS, I'll go back to 3. Much of the theme of MGS3 are soldiers who know each other fighting for different sides. Do they choose their humanity, and try to save each other, or do they succumb to their loyalty and destroy each other? The end makes a very sharp point when Naked Snake kills The Boss. It makes a point about the characters, and the theme. As soldiers: they chose the mission. The game makes an argument based around that theme, that when it comes to brothers fighting for different sides, they can't compromise their missions when peace is at stake. It doesn't really matter if its a theme and conclusion I'd agree with, it just matters that its there and carries through the game all the way to the end, and by the end it really says something about the idea. #142 -
migueldecervantes (12/19/2015) [-] One of my favorite subjects is history, and I am very saddened by the substantial decline in the general appeal to it within current western society. I think that very important things risk being forgotten, and this is never good news for future generation (and maybe even our own). I think that a people's mastery of history is more important even than science and engineering (or, at least, the latter two are less dangerous as forgotten than the former). The thing that consoles me is the unequivocal appeal of storytelling in all forms of media. Fiction in books, songs, films and video games is here to stay for ever, it seems. I am saying this in response to your comment because I think you have hit the nail on the head as to the one objective criteria of narrative. Let me explain: I believe history is not as appealing as fiction because it tends to stop its inquiry at the causes (human actions, most of the time). It is superficial, in a way. I think this is due to historians already being fascinated by history, and generally thinking about it in a deep way once they have accumulated all the facts concerning the causal links of a specific theme (communism in China, The War of the Roses, etc.). Thus, history is taught in a "non-in-depth" manner. Fiction, on the other hand, widely seen as a form of art or entertainment, delves not only into more general/universal themes (justice, the nature of humanity, love, etc.) which are not based in fact, but also tends to give more in-depth insight into these subjects. It does so, it seems, by observing past the causes (again, mostly human actions) into the causes of the causes (as in the motivations and mental states of the characters). In the bottom line, fiction gives us a more insightful experience which makes us contemplate these facets of life, and it is sad that most historian cannot give us such experiences when teaching history. I mean, Extra Credits do a good job of making history into a compelling narrative (in their Extra History series); this ought to be more widespread. History shares its main element with storytelling: it is narrative. And it should borrow this from storytelling more often, because it does not matter if it is fact (history) or (fiction), in the end; what matters most is that it helps us reflect on life and understand our existence better. I'm sorry for rambling about this, but this is a topic very dear to me.
