| Man don't use that "game" to test your precious hardware. They took it of the market and are now remaking it to work as intended instead of selling us unfinished crap. ARK says "recommended High for 4GB VRAM". I turned everything on max which allegedly should take 6gig of Vram, ran perfectly fine on my 970 with 45-55fps if you can bare that. Devs give you the idea of making a highly graphical game by not optimizing it. Anyways for the price of 970 or 390, I think you have a lot of power for 1080p gaming. I have a 970 myself and I never really find myself short on horsepower (on actually well made games who give you a realistic representation of what your hardware is capable of). I'm using visual mods, car mods, drift mods on GTA and with MSAA off, I can count the times I dipped below 60fps the last session on 1 hand. Yeah, Arkham Knight is not a very good benchmark for the everyday performance of a GPU since it has had optimization problems since it came out. I've heard from a lot of people that it eats way too many resources for how it looks. If you're not playing on 2k or 4k resolutions, most current games will have a lot of trouble going over the 4gb mark. I'm not sure since I haven't played Arkham Knight yet (stuck with a 560 ti atm) but if you think VRAM is the problem you might look into the AMD alternatives. They can't run PhysX which is used in a few games for particles and such, but they have 8gb of VRAM. | ||

kapkap (09/02/2015) [-] i think i was thinking about the 980ti because of its extra 2gb of vram, i played arkham knight and when i went into graphics it said i should have a 2gb gpu on low, 4 on med, and 6 on high, i dont know if those are more correlation than causation but it makes sense to me That's only a reference for you to know what kind of set up you'll need to run it with good FPS. A 970 and a 980ti will have the same graphics with Arkham Knight in High settings, but since those allegedly require 6gb of VRAM, and the 970 only has 4gb inb4 3.5gb it will start using your RAM memory to make up for the missing VRAM. However system RAM is much slower than your VRAM and this will translate into FPS loss if you run a 970 with the settings on high, going back to my previous point. Graphic quality is directly determined by the game's settings, FPS is directly determined by your GPU. The only way a 970 can limit graphic quality of Arkham Knight is by not being able to get enough FPS for the game to be playable. As a final note I'm with ruckallthefules here, in most games the only difference between the 970 and the 980 will be a couple of FPS on max settings (if you're not planning on 4k gaming) AK is only an exception to the rule because it's horribly optimized. | They like to release features, then take time to understand the problem before running in with a solution that is worse than the problem. Like when everyone was doing the Mag, Excaliber, Trinity exploit on corpus intercepts. They did some quick fixes. Later they rolled back the nurfs and introduced bubble crewmen to bring balance. They introduce new features with events to collect metrics and feedback, and even if they don’t overhaul something, they take many small steps to make it better. Currently, Archwing has been massively improved, but I still think it needs a flight HUD. It’s hard for them to balance the PVP because so few people do conclave. I see what you are saying, but there is a lot of recent features that I haven’t even tried, I haven’t even been to sanctuary one time, or tried the new conclave Either way, I'm talking shit about older features not getting attention but I can barely wait until that Valkyr skin gets released and always get super hyped for new features, so these walls of text are 33% concentrated hypocrisy. You should definitely try the conclave, PvP is pretty fun for me at the moment after they've overhauled it. Balancing things separately from PvE seems to be the way to go, they're two completely different game modes. And yeah, when you put it that way I can see the reason behind their process however I still think they are stretching too thin. I understand making new features is cool and it sort of keeps the game fresh, but many have been released, updated for a month or so, and then kind of left there once it's mostly functional and only touched 2 major updates later. Archwing's probably the biggest example of this as it has massive potential and fun but barely anyone plays it due to the lack of attention it has been given. I'm still confident that they're getting their shit together now because this year has been full of improvements and I think this archwing situation will change when they release missions that feature both archwing and regular gameplay and the new raid. Flight HUD would be cool too, the current one feels clunky with Archwing. | ||

| I don't think archwing is bad, it just lacks a lot of content and still wasn't as polished as the rest of the game. During the last year the devs have had the bad habit of releasing tons of new content without taking the time to give it the much needed depth. You can see it with Kubrows, Archwing, Dark Sectors, Syndicates, Relays, the fact that some melee stances still only have a couple of combos and until recently, the really basic and unbalanced PvP. They're getting better at it but with so much content it's going to take some time.
