I never said they didn't do the series for themselves or that they didn't say that it felt right, but I don't see how that mean sthey didn't do it as an actist type deal. They felt it was right that they make a statement about gay characters, that's what they wanted to do. It was entirely about having a set of gay characters on childrens tv, their blogs make that abundantly clear in how they barely talk about korra and asamis "relationship" and mostly just talk about how progressive the avatar series is and how they were dared to try this.

Korrasami would not exist if it wasn't for the fact it was a lesbian relationship, that's that.

The entire series lacked in the area of continuity, mainly because this was never meant to last this long. But Korrasami especially was lazy, I don't think it would've been included if there was a chance of the series continuing or if things were better off with nick. They basically said "fuck it, we're making a statement" and that's that.

Personally I'm just gonna watch season 1 and remember when borra was still a thing.

I don't really mind the fandom, I mean it's what you would expect from a group advocating for lesbians in a children's cartoon. Some are a little fanatical but hey, their ship actually came true when nobody thought it would.

But theres a reason nobody thought it would come true, it's a shitty ship that completely throws off the story. It didn't feel complete, it didn't feel like there was any resolution, and most importantly it didn't feel good. When you compare it to ATLA you'll notice the huge gaps.

The creators admitted to doing it for their gay friends as some sort of activist message, this wasn't done for the story. This was done at the expense of the story, which I think is disappointing.

But it's canon, nothing I can do. This just left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth is all.

I don't really feel that way. The creators never affirmed they did it solely as an activist message. In fact they said: "Mike and I have always made both Avatar and Korra for us, first and foremost." If this remains true then they wouldn't have moved on with the relationship if they didn't feel it was right. Which by the way, they did as Bryan said: "The more Korra and Asami’s relationship progressed, the more the idea of a romance between them organically blossomed for us."

The activist factor of this choice and all their gay friends were just an additional point that helped them move forward with the decision.

About your criticism to the story's integrity: The hints were there and so was the relationship's progression, but I do have to agree with you that it doesn't feel complete. That isn't exclusive to this romantic plot though. Overall many things in Korra felt rushed when compared to ATLA. You do have to notice however that each ATLA season had remotely twice as many episodes as a LoK season, along with budget cuts by Nickelodeon. When you have these restrictions it's hard to live up to something that matches ATLA.

I know there are definitely Korra comics coming out, no date announced yet. I wouldn't be surprised to see an anouncement before the end of January.

No sauce, no holding my breath.

how do you definitely know?

the creators have said they're continuing with ATLA comics and there might be some merchandise along the line, but besides that they're moving on.

I hope not, I really don't want to see Korrasmai get fleshed out. The cringe would be of historic proportions.

I'm not opposed to the relationship itself. However I have to admit that some parts of the fandom were getting really creepy when the creators started giving away signs though.
