What? In New Vegas you determine which faction holds one of the biggest and only remaining power sources in the remaining United States. Not to mention that whoever holds that will be able to push their conquest East (NCR) or West (Legion) thus deciding the fate of the watelands of the US

But there's no aftermath, no canon story-line, etc that lets you see the benefits of your actions. I mean, there's no "right answer" - if you side with the NCR, Legion, or Yes Man/independent, it all ends up the same - someone takes over the hoover dam, and the game ends. All of those factions have their pluses and minuses, and nothing stops another faction from coming in 2 months later and starting a new war (re-taking the dam by a fourth party). It's so different from the very tangible accomplishments of the other games - the Master isn't coming back to life, the technology involved in the water purifier isn't going away, and the institute isn't going to un-nuke itself. IDK I just didn't feel that excited about the main story line in new vegas - it felt so political and pointless and temporary. That's why I agree that it was more of a spin off than anything else - the plot of new vegas has no substantial impact on the canon story of the Fallout universe.

You can either kill Caesar or royaly fuck over the NCR. That's pretty major imo.

Eh, the NCR and the Legion are both described as very large. Killing Caesar might cause a collapse of the Legion, except that it obviously didn't, seeing as you still fight them at the end of the game if you kill Caesar. As far as the NCR is concerned, the only thing that happens in the game that would really affect them in the long run is what happens in the last DLC. Either way, New Vegas' story felt very long and grinding to me, and the ending felt pretty anti-climactic to me.

Well, if you do it correctly, you do kill Caesar...you can also built your own army that might be enough to conquer big parts of the wastelands...At least the implications are kinda worldchanging

They totally did. "Enema of the State" was a huge turning point in their career. I prefer the older songs like "Dammit" and "Josie". Still, "Stay Together for the Kids" and "I Miss You" sounded really good and I could relate to them.

Take off your Pants and Jacket was bearable, but most of what I liked was from Cheshire Cat, Dude Ranch, and Enema of the State. Their live CD is the best - that was them at their prime. I hated the self titled CD, and the one they just put out is total trash. Cheshire Cat was one of my favorite CDs of childhood.
