 Except that that a paster is not an expert on god or the bible, he's an expert on interpretation of the Bible according to a specific denominations theology, at best. Religious scripture cannot have a valid argument from authority because scriptural "truth" is metaphysical nature, let alone the abundance of disagreeing "authorities". Expertise on god is something similar, except that's it even worse because we have evidence of scripture existing, not of a god. So in both these cases no authority can be valid to establish an argument, so it's always a false/questionable authority. Then go to a logical argument about evolution, and an argument that shows that just because there is a fallacy doesn't mean it is wrong. p1) A biologist states Humans and Chimps evolved from a common ancestor p2) Biologists are a valid authority on evolution c) what the biologist says is true While factually the 2 postulates are correct, the logic is flawed however because you never used evidence to support your argument, you are depending on a single source's word. To successfully defend an argument you must present evidence, not someones statements. It is a logical debate, not a courtroom or presidential debate (both of which are rhetoric not logic). | ||

| or more like you skipped a step. A logical fallacy in an argument is an indicator of a flaw/weakness in the argument that can be used to break the argument apart. So it is something to be aware of when arguing. The less logical flaws you have the stronger your argument is. | ||

 So should I personally be refuting the main claim by saying something like "well I'm a feminist and I don't do X" To avoid a no true scotsman fallacy, yes. In general broad claims in logic argument will get you in trouble. #19 -

| It is 2 seperate countries, effectively, right now. They just took down the wall in the middle of the country back in 2008, and started more reunification talks back in may of this year. Turkey still controls the northern half of the country, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Once that stops, they MIGHT be allowed into the EU, but they also have to control their border control issues.  Little more complicated than that. The island had a significant turkish population, as the island was under turkish controll for hundreds of years before greece took it. Turkey then decided that it should protect the turks and created northern cyprus. There was also some stuff with greek military junta. But no one has recognized nc, and the UN proposal for reunification was not accepted by souther cyprus. Yeah, the reason for not accepting the reunification was that is disproportionately favored the Turkish Cypriots, which is unfair when the population of Cyprus has basically been Greek since ~1100 to 1050 BCE. It didn't have major Turkish influence until the Ottoman Empire decided it was Rome 2.0 and invaded Cyprus back in 1570. | ||

 Let me break it down. Let's say the two brackets are $100,000 or less are taxed at 28% and $100,001 or more are taxed at 33%, in the system that I am outlining. Person A makes $100,000 while person B make $101,000. Person A would be taxed 28% of his income for $28,000. Person B would have hs first $100,000 earned taxed at 28% and his next $1,000 earned taxed at 33%. So he would be taxed $28,330. Person A is earning $72,000 and person B is earning $72,670. There is no incentive to earn 'less' through the US' income tax system. I am an anarchist so I do not believe in taxation...but I'm at least not totally ignorant #62 -

To answer all of the questions people ask about what the government does and how it will happen in a stateless society, see the gov't for what it is. A middle man. And to everyone asking "well anarchy means no order!" No, it doesn't, violence is the least effective way to change people's behavior and both parties lose. Wow! you murdered someone? well no business/street/housing/utility owner wants to deal with murderers! You have an incentive not to murder people if you like buying food, housing, and power. The fear of NOT having what you want is the greatest motivator for behavior change unique to humans. while the fear of death is shared by all primitive creatures and historically ineffective at behavior change.  One thing I still want to know. What the hell is your plan for public infrastructure if you want anarchy? If you pay no taxes, there's no one obligated to make public roads. So it logically follows that an anarchist's ideal is to have all roads privately owned, but that would be fucking terrible for efficiency.  also how do you view an ideal anarchist society ? if you were to become a dictator would you enforce anarchy and overthrow yourself ? | ||
