The moveset info they've released suggests that he will be grass/ground. Not dark... I was hoping on dark as well and it's still possible, just not likely.

Fire/psychic is very likely, water/fighting is quite possible but I don't know of anything pointing to it, grass/dark is unlikely so I don't really have my hopes up for it but it's a cool thought, if not chespin hopefully another pokemon.

The glasses make him look intellectual which is not associated with dark or fighting, all the info they're talking about on the official is how high he jumps and the cloud on his neck may point to water/flying. Chespin learns a couple of ground type moves but no steel or rock that I know of.

Well the only flying move I know he learns is bounce which is typically learned by non flying types but gyarados is an exception to that as it's the only flying move he can get. And while you're right about the crossover of those three types, his color scheme suggests either rock or ground and he only learns ground moves of the two, so I'm leaning towards ground although I think we need other combinations. Also wailord is the float pokemon, people have calculated his density using his weight and estimations of his volume and found that he is less dense than air.
