Living in new york is interesting.
Ultimately, it's gonna come down to cost of living, and if you can work a job that earns you enough cash to support yourself.
Beyond that, winters are cold as fuck, and we get wicked snow. Summers can be hot, but they're usually pretty mild, never really going above 90.
People here are friendly, specially out in the sticks (Queens, Statan Island) we're all very social (cept on trains and buses) New York really isn't one great big city, but a union of small neighborhoods each with their own flavor. I live in Astoria (Greek Neighborhood) Drive barely a mile, and you're in little Korea (Flushing) About 49% Of the City's population is foreign born, so if you're comming from Anytown, USA you're gonna notice it immediately.
Food's cheap, pot's cheap, liquor's cheap, movies are expensive.
Walmart is illegal here, and you're often scoffed for shopping at chain franchises; most people here go to local private owned businesses; especially in Brooklyn where everything is all Artisan and crafty, not to mention the hipsters.
Soda above 16oz isn't illegal like some people think. Marijuana is decriminalized and generally accepted amongst young and middle aged people.
Though the police here do have a tendancy to do what's called stop and search (If you look suspicious, they can ask you to empty your pockets and what not)
It is cool that everything is accessable by walking, and there is no real reason to own a car.
But that's pretty much it.

That's a really piss poor solution if you have to look to a corrupt government in shambles to fix your problems.
Instead of doing that, why don't you actually fix the cultural and education issue that's present? Oh, wait that would be the logical thing to do.
