No one on the writing staff remembered middle school science well enough to actually know what a black hole is or does. The villain doesn't actually have any motivation. A lot of the timing and physics in general are just very, very off.

well you have to remember it's based on a 60's tv show, and without straying too far from the source material without upsetting fans doesnt give much leeway in terms of movie physics.... i don't get why anyone would get upset over this????

It's easily avoidable. All they had to do was not use the term "black hole" to describe whatever weird abomination of physics the red matter created, and it would've been fine. But instead, they used something we're familiar enough with to know that it doesn't act anything like it does in that movie. That's basically insulting to my intelligence.

Well, I guess some people don't have a limit to their suspension of disbelief. I do, though. Nothing wrong with enjoying a movie for what it is, but I felt like slapping JJ Abrams in the face with a wet pool noodle about 200 times after watching the first one. I forgive him after seeing the second, though.

To be honest, I forgave him after seeing Super 8.

That said, I enjoyed it significantly more than the first. I hated the first, to be honest. Mostly because it sat upon a throne of LIES. And bullshit science. The second had a strong(er) story, and kept everything I liked about the first; namely, the strong acting and writing.

acting was amazing no doubt just the shallow screenplay and plotholes really turned me off to the whole experience, id give it a 7.5/10

I actually quite enjoyed it. There were a few plotholes and some scenes were just overboard or ridiculous, but I liked the acting and the plot itself wasn't bad.
