I'm pretty sure it's a government funded airline, if it was privately owned it would probably be out of business by now

Flying over an semi-active combat zone kind of is their fault though.
#28 - dasaniwonder (07/21/2014) [-]
You're absolutely right. When someone shoots and kills you, it's kind of your fault, because you should have done your absolute best to move out of the way. Stupid Malaysian plane, don't they know Russian Separatists are entitled to blowing up all planes that pass by, as they please?

If you have the power to stop something and the foreknowledge to have reasonably done so, some of the fault lies with you.
Other airlines rerouted their flights to avoid the dangerous zones, it's clear that there was reason to do so.
Hundreds of people are dead and it could have been avoided. That is the issue. They could have done something different and they didn't.

I'm not saying that; I'm saying that those in charge are responsible for taking reasonable measures to avoid loss of life and limb. To me it seems like a fuck up on the airlines part for not taking a different flight path; in no way am I saying its the passenger's fault. And to be honest, I'm fucking pissed that NATO didn't fuckin' seize the fucking area afterwards, and have allowed the bodies to become the hostages of the fucking rebels; I hope NATO gains a fucking pair again (not gonna happen but I can dream), and fucking does something.
#29 - dasaniwonder (07/21/2014) [-]
They weren't expecting it, so don't brand it as their fault. So many areas around the Middle East are semi-active combat zones, so do airliners have to avoid every corner of the world? Russian Separatists were trigger happy and they won't stop anytime soon, and they need to be fragged into next weeks, like the fascist cunts they are.
#31 - tiredofannon (07/21/2014) [-]
Actually most airlines have started avoiding very large parts of Israel/Palestine for that exact fucking reason; large parts of Iraq and Afghanistan have been off limits for a while. All other active combat zones should be avoided also. We agree that the separatists are scum, I just think that the airlines has some responsibility because thats how the industry works: the average person cannot fly themselves as they do not have the knowledge and skill to do so, so they rely upon those who do to get them to their destination. As part of that, the airline has a duty to avoid taking unnecessary risks.
#32 - dasaniwonder (07/21/2014) [-]
Well maybe you have a point, but I would have never seen it coming.

P.S. Nobody avoid Israel/Palestine because Israel doesn't shoot rockets at anyone, and Palestine doesn't shoot rockets at aircraft.

Most drivers also talk on their cell phones at some point; doesn't mean its a good decision or that it deflects responsibility.

Planes go where the air traffic controllers tell them to.
User avatar
#30 - skfdkfkehdgurdk (07/21/2014) [-]
They land where they tell them to, not necessarily the flight plans entirely
#20 - tiredofannon (07/21/2014) [-]
Actually, the pilot has final say over all decisions while in the air, and the pilot/company could have always filed a flight plan to go around, not through.
