One episode of the simpsons takes 6 months to make. So they make thirty of them at once. Each one takes six months, but if you do them all at the same time, it'll only take six months to do thirty as well.
The same goes for the making of japanese swords (which can take up to a year per sword and are done in bunches) AND with animation rendering.
The ending scene for Frozen's Let It Go had 218 frames and each frame took 130 hours to render. That doesn't mean it took three years for a three second shot of film to render.

300 hours spread across a 200 computers and animators is about 18 months. Pixar releases a new movie a little less often than that. Plus, faster computers purchased near the end of production probably helped. (200 computer will not all survive 18 months. EVER)

It says 800 000 machine hours. 800 000/30=26666 frames, 26666/24=1111 seconds, 1111/60=18 minutes.
I can agree with 800k machine hours but I don't buy 30 hours per frame. My laptop is far worse than any computer from the render field and still it can do it at least as fast.

You would render it in parallel, of course. (I.e. have N computers, each rendering M frames independently of the other computers)
