Oh don't worry, irl the sorceror is my bae. I wouldn't have killed d&d for him. He likes the drama. He made a special snowflake half-elf bastard who listens to too much my chemical romance and sum 41 and killed his dad in a fit of passion.

i have just killed off my fav char for the good of the story.

we are only the first dungeon into this adventure, and i was going to just focus on being DM, but i rolled a really good bard. so i just had him rammed by a spirit when he was about to be posessed by the BBEG demon. But he was thrown to the temporal realm. sent back in time to before the deamon was sealed. and bacically laid the roots for the songs and stories he grew up learning, along with building the cathedral that he gets sent back in time from. the spirit that sends him back in time is in fact himself from the distant past. and now i will have the spirit follow the rest of the group and help them out here and there. ( i may also give them the opportunity to bring the ghost back to life as a damn lvl 30. (3rd edition BTW)

To help give you better context

This was a smurf campaign with me and only one other party member.

We weren't actually friends, he and I just happened to be travelling on the same road during a crisis.

More likely than not I would have just walked away from him if he'd done it, but I figured paladins don't compromise.

And finally: I get it I get it, my guy will grow up like the protagonist of a shounen anime and learn the world isn't black and white.

It's also more of a practical concern. Finding people to play with is hard enough so it's best to let people have their fun even if it doesn't make as much sense character wise.

It's tough to come up with interesting stuff. I am working on my Numenera campaign for tomorrow right now. having trouble thinking up a good big bad or an interesting goal for the players.
