From what I've seen, CERN had nothing to do with the creation of the internet. However, the first image uploaded onto the internet was 'Les Horribles Cernettes' (or LHC), a group of particle physicists who had formed a singing group.

The first version of ,,internet,, called ARPANET was invented in Americe about 1960 as a resoult of cold war with Russia :)
