anon (02/20/2015) [-] No dude, I agree. For the decades its been on, it produces like one comedy gem per year. Everyone praises it for being the funniest thing ever but it really isnt. It has gret talent tho. Most comics who leave and can do their own thing after getting exposure there do great. As far as I'm concerned its like a talent agency for comics. But then everyone of them keeps talking about Lorne Michaels like he is some sort of god, you were the talented one comic, he just gave you a bit of air time.

anon (02/20/2015) [-] I'd recommend reading about the Fermi paradox but there are three basic categories about why we haven't seen any intelligent life. They are: 1. Life is Rare(it sounds like you are in this boat) 2. We're the First 3. We're Fucked If life is simply rare than that is the greatest news ever for humanity. That means that we are truly in an extremely rare situation. This also means that life is extremely rare and that there is no Intelligent life in our galaxy besides us. If we are first then holy shit did we get lucky, this means that life is common but we are one of the earliest intelligent life forms to come into existence. This would also mean that the universe is starting to become very different. Finally if neither of those cases are true then we are totally fucked. Either we are going to kill our selves off or we are going to get killed. It could be that an apex species already exists and kills all intelligent life they find(this is probable based on how Humans are on Earth and the fact that a small spaceship excelled towards the speed of light would be an unstoppable planet destroyer) or maybe it is the nature of intelligent life to try to make machines which result in self destruction.

| "life" as we know it may not be a standard for what is on other planets or places within the universe. when you think of it, "life" is actually an incredibly abstract concept, and if we were to find life somewhere else in teh universe, its possible that we wouldn't recognise it as such. #78 -
anon (02/20/2015) [-] There's no reason to expect that the probability of life forming per planet is high. It's nonzero and pretty far from 1, but what is it? 10^(-6)? 10^(-10)? 10^(-20)? 10^(-200)? I don't see a reason to suppose it's not the last one (or something similarly close to zero, the number I gave might be overkill. 10^(-20) would do if there are 10^15 planets in the observable universe) If you have to have the first few molecules click together just-so, then life could easily be rare enough to just form once in the whole observable universe. I'm not asserting that's the case, just saying that "might" is correct. To think we're not alone in the universe with everything we know about it is the most arrogant thing a sentient being can do. I mean, to look at those odds and just assume we're special and were the only ones to evolve into something worth killing is the equivalent of a child learning to walk and assuming it's the first to ever do so. I'm well aware of the Femi Paradox and I think it's rather absurd. It's called a paradox but has no real basis other than one mans hunch from 60 years ago. Hardly an argument with what we know now. Hell, back then we had barely thought of going to the moon seriously.

dashgamer (07/04/2015) [-] SURE WOULD BE GREAT IF I COULD ATTEND FJ PARTIES RATHER THAN WORK FOR 18 HOURS ON ******* INDEPENDENCE DAY THANKS TO INCOMPETENT HIGHER UPS SCHEDULING THREE PEOPLE FOR FIVE SHIFTS ALL AT THE SAME TIME.
Traumatic brain injuries? How in the hell did you get concussions from green and brown belt courses?
That's on your instructor: he shouldn't be an instructor any more.
I got a bite of Corpseos today, though. My relief for my security job was a Marine that got out in January. When I was in, he was a little ol' boot, a despicable thing, but as ******* civvies we reminisced and swapped tales. ****** weird, yo.
