Not having a girlfriend isn't a huge deal, it's kinda a burden relief. Getting raped and having a miscarriage of your first child, losing a best friend, nearly being murdered, coming from an abusive mother and never knowing your father? Now thats a reason to be depressed (I'd know, been through all of these). Depression isn't something you can just 'walk away from' either. You need serious help and support.

Not having a GF wouldn't really be a big deal, but depression does happen and usually for more serious reasons.
